We all know that some things are right. For example, it is right to be 1 to other people. It is also right to look after the environment. Some things are 2 wrong, too. For example, we should not hurt or bully(欺負) others, nor should we litter. Rules often tell us what is right or wrong.
Rules can help the public make the right 3 , and remain safe. Car drivers have to follow traffic rules that tell them the right things to do on the road to avoid accidents. Cyclists who give signals before turning or stopping help prevent 4, too.
If people follow rules without taking other matters into consideration, it will be 5 for them to form what is sometimes called a "black and white" view. For example, they may believe that people should always tell the truth, and that lying is 6 acceptable. Such people always stick to their views, even if it means that they may get into 7 .
Sometimes it may not be so easy to know 8what is right or wrong. Some people choose not to eat meat because they believe that it is 9 to eat animals, but others argue that they can eat meat and 10 be kind to animals; some say that stealing is always wrong, but others think that one does not need to feel so 11 when stealing some food to eat, if he lives in a really 12 area and he is starving.
Rules help us live together in harmony(和諧), because they show us the right way to 13 others. However, some people argue that rules may be 14 , having known that rules change all the time, and that some schools have some rules and others have different ones-so who is to15what is right?

因tell the truth與lying相對,而與always相對的應(yīng)是never。A、seldom很少 B、usually經(jīng)常 C、only僅僅D、never從不,故選D。
“get into power上臺”,“get into prison坐牢”,“get into control控制”。故選A。
A、possibly可能的 B、lastly 最后C、mainly主要地D、exactly確切地,故選D。
A、still仍然 B、even即使C、later 后來D、somehow以某種方式,故選A。
A、nervous緊張的 B、anxious焦慮的 C、afraid擔(dān)心D、terrible可怕的,故選D。

C
Rivers are one of our most important natural resources(資源). Many of the world's great cities are located on rivers, and almost every country has at least one river through it that plays an important part in the lives of its people.
Since the beginning of history, people have used rivers for transportation. The longest one in the United States is the Mississippi. The lifeline of Egypt is the Nile. To the people of India, the Ganges is great, but it is also important for transportation. Ships can travel along it for a thousand miles. Other great rivers are the Congo in Africa and the Mekong in southeastern Asia. The greatest of all for navigation(航海), however, is the Amazon in Brazil. It is so wide and so deep that large ships can go about two thousand miles up it.
Besides transportation, rivers give food, water to drink, water for crops, and chances for fun and recreation for the people who live along their banks. In order to increase the supply of water for crops, engineers sometimes build a dam(壩) across a river and let a lake form behind the dam. Then people can use the water not only to irrigate(灌溉) their fields but also to make electricity for their homes and industries.
However, large cities and industries that are located on rivers often cause problems. As the cities grow in size and industries increase, the water in the rivers becomes polluted with chemicals and other materials. People are learning the importance, however, of doing more to keep their rivers clean if they want to enjoy the benefits of them.
(1)The underlined word it in Paragraph 1 means ______________.
A.the world

(3)When rivers are dammed(筑壩), people can use the water for ______________.
A.keeping the rivers clean
B.irrigating and making electricity
C.watering crops and drinking
D.fun and recreation
(4)Most water in rivers is polluted by _____________.
A.chemicals and other materials
B.too many crops around it
C.using water for irrigating
D.building dams across rivers
(5)The river wants to tell us in the last paragraph that __________.
A.people should do more to keep rivers clean
B.people are learning the importance of rivers
C.cities grow in size and industries increase

How will you feel if you see an e-library? When you walk into your local library and instead of hundreds shelves(架子) with all kinds of books, you see a modern room that looks like an Apple store with different kinds of computers. A teacher says even if he loves paper books, he believes that it is time to have the e-library system(系統(tǒng)) now the world is developing rapidly(快速地).

To make our digestive (消化的) system work well, we should avoid doing some things after having a meal, for example, drinking water. It is true that a person should drink 8 glasses of water every day to stay healthy. However, drinking water right after eating or even during a meal may disrupt (擾亂) digestion. It might influence the natural levels of acid and bile (酸和膽汁) that are necessary for proper digestion. What's more, drinking cold water after eating might slow down (減慢)digestion. So try to avoid drinking water at least an hour after a meal, and avoid drinking it while eating.
Though walking after eating is healthy, doing it at once after a meal is not. Doing so will make it difficult for the digestive system to take in nutrients (營養(yǎng)) from the food. Besides, the blood will flow towards other parts of the body, like legs, hands, etc. That will make the digestive tract(消化道) not have enough blood flow for proper digestion. So we should wait for at least 2 hours after eating, and then begin exercising.
Sleeping should also be avoided right after eating. This is because going to bed right after a meal will lead to improper digestion. What's more, such a habit will also make you put on a lot of weight. Therefore, wait for an hour or two, and then go to sleep.
Many of us have the habit of drinking tea just after lunch or dinner, which is really unhealthy. The tea leaves are rich in acid which prevents the protein(蛋白質(zhì))in the food from digesting. The best time to drink tea is at least one hour after eating.
Eating fruits right after a meal may fill the stomach with air and we'll feel uncomfortable. They will also take time to reach the digestive tract, disturbing the whole process of digestion. To protect your stomach from digestive problems, eat fruits before or after 1-2 hours of a meal.
In a word, if you avoid doing all the above things after eating, you will surely make your digestion easy, and you will be less likely to have digestive problems.
