People know and drink Coca-Cola all over the world. Hundreds of millions of people can know a Coke bottle by its shape and the famous Coca-Cola logo (商標) is also the most famous logo in the world with a history of 100 years.

But the story of Coca-Cola is even older than that. It was in 1886 that John Pemberton, a druggist in America, invented a new type of sweet liquid (液體), using coca leaves, sugar and cola nuts, plus a few other secret ingredients! Pemberton sold it as a medicine. And with its coca, he thought it must have made people feel good! However, Pemberton’s medicine was not very successful, so he sold his secret formula (配方) to another druggist, Asa Candler. Candler was interested in it because he thought that Pemberton’s “medicine” would be much better if being mixed with soda.

Candler was the man who really invented the drink Coca-Cola. At first he sold it in his drugstore. Then he began selling it to other drugstores, who used it with their soda fountains. Candler also advertised his new drink, and soon people love it. Before long some businessmen expected to sell it in bottles. Then the famous bottle was designed in 1916.

During the First World War, American soldiers in Europe began asking for Coca-Cola, so the company began to export (出口) to Europe. Today, it is made in countries all over the world and is the world’s most popular drink.

You must think a computer is the best thing in the world, right? You must think it works at a super speed and can do everything? Well, it’s not! In fact, the brain is much more powerful than any super computer! Think about when a glass is just about to fall off the table. Your brain controls everything that you need to do to save that glass from falling. First your eyes check out what’s going on, then tell your brain, and your brain decides how quickly you need to react(反應), and then your muscles(肌肉) go into action. That is just from your brain. No computer could ever come close to that!

The brain weighs just 3 pounds, but it controls everything you do from thinking, learning, feeling even to breathing and your heart beating. Even though the brain is just 2% of your body weight, it uses around 20% of all your energy in your body. That is a lot for such a small organ(器官). There are about 100 billion tiny, tiny little cells(細胞) in your brain. There are so many that it would take you over 3,000 years to count them all!

Your brain stops growing when you’re 18, but it actually keeps on developing and learning new things. So your parents are really super smart! You won’t be able to fool them! Believe it or not, your brain NEVER stops working. Even during sleeping, the brain works for long-term memory establishment(建立). It is realized that the brain is the second organ in the body as the heart that never stops during human lives.

So everyone should be proud of such a gift of nature.

We all give names to our pets. But would you give a name to your family’s car? Many American adults enjoy doing this and there’s even a fun “holiday” called “National Name Your Car Day”. The most popular names for cars are “Bob” and “Betsy”.

Each of the “books” is about 2 meters high. There are many plants on another side of the building. A soccer field is on the top of the building.

The banana trees are grown in a cold place at first. But then they are moved to a warmer place while they are still growing.
