Have you been asked for money by some disabled beggars (乞丐) while you’re enjoying shopping? Do you have any pity on them who are so poor and lonely or do you just feel afraid of their terrible shapes? As one of the most special groups, disabled people’s living conditions — not only their material (物質(zhì)的) conditions, but their mental (精神的) world — really need improvement.

The treatment for disabled people should go like this: First, don’t look down upon them. Don’t be afraid of looking at the terrible shapes of the disabled. Try to treat them equally. Because they are a part of the society ,we can’t discard (拋棄) them. The second is to help them as much as we could. If you can be a volunteer and do some work for the disabled people, that would be very nice. That does help not only to the disabled people but also to yourself because you will feel good after your kind action.

If every one of us gives a little love, the world will become a beautiful wonderland!

Whenever there’s a terrible storm, there are many sad stories. Many people lost their houses, their cars and their pets. But sometimes these stories have happy endings, too.

A family in New Jersey, US, had a cat named Vivian. She was very smart. She could even draw with her wet paws(爪子) on the floor. They all loved her very much. When hurricane (颶風(fēng)) Sandy hit America in October, they moved to a safer place 13km away from home. Unluckily, Vivian was missing (不見了). All the nine family members were worried about her. They put up posters (海報(bào)) to find her. They looked for her everywhere they thought she could stay, but they didn’t find it. The family thought Vivian was gone forever.

But six months later, Vivian showed up at their house, according to(根據(jù)) Yahoo News. They considered (認(rèn)為) her return as a wonder. No one can be sure where Vivian was for all that time.

Many animals are good at finding their way home. People usually say that dogs and cats find their way home through using their sense of smell(嗅覺).

But that doesn’t explain how Vivian found her way back. Hurricane Sandy blew away the normal smell of home. “I wish she could talk,” said her owner.

1.From the passage we know Sandy is a _____.

A. pet B. hurricane C. girl D. cat

2.The cat was missing for _____.

A. 6 months B. 9 months

C. 13 months D. a year

3.Which of the following is NOT true?

A. Vivian could even draw.

B. The family tried hard to look for the pet.

C. The owner knew how the cat found her way home.

D. Nobody knew where Vivian was while Hurricane Sandy was hitting America.

4. The meaning of the underlined word in paragraph 3 is_____

A. 災(zāi)難 B. 幸福 C. 奇怪的 D. 奇跡

5.What can be the best title for the passage?

A. A Terrible Storm B. A Clever Pet
