1spent

2top

3by

4expensive/bad

5Though/Although

根據(jù)后句的意思可知,空處的詞應為“貴/不好”,英文為expensive/bad,故答案為expensive/bad。

I think the most terrible thing in life for my little brother is getting up in the morning. He is almost sick when my mother calls, "Herbert! It's seven o'clock! Get up!"
Herbert answers, "I'm coming!" and goes right back to sleep. I'm not at all like my brother. I don't like to go to bed at night but I don't mind getting up in the morning.
I usually wake up before my mother calls me. I jump out of bed and go into the bathroom to take a shower. I great dressed, brush my teeth, comb my hair, and get ready to go down stairs for breakfast as soon as my mother calls.
But not Herbert. He just sleeps. A military band (軍樂隊) in our bedroom could not wake him up. I call him and say, "Get up!" Mum will be up here to pull you out of bed if you don't get up quickly.
But he just sleeps. After calling a few more times my mother has to come upstairs and pull Herbert out of bed. It's that way every day with my little brother. Perhaps some day he'll learn to get up on time, but I really don't think so.
(1)I'm not like my brother because I like to go to bed early at night and get up early in the morning.

Which is better, writing or typing? These days, many college students have given up (take) class notes by hand. Instead, they type on laptops(手提電腦) they think typing is fast, and they can write more notes. But a new research has (show) that taking notes by hand is in fact better for long-term memory.
In this research, students were asked to listen a teacher. Some took notes by typing on a laptop. The (other) took notes by writing them down. Then they were given a test. Both groups got almost the same result in (remember) the facts. But students who typed their notes did worse on conceptual (需要理解的) questions.
Why is it like this? The answer is that writing by hand is slow, it gives the students more time to think about the questions they don't understand. They are able (write) down the main points. “This leads to a (deep) understanding,” say the scientists.
However, the students typing notes on a laptop (usual) just write down what the teacher says word for word in class. Although they can write more notes, they just type really thinking about what they are typing. “This usually leads to mindless transcription(抄錄),” say the scientists.
So if you want to remember something better, write it by hand!
