Who is smarter, human being or artificial intelligence(AI, 人工智能)?The question swept the world a few months ago. In March 2016, AlphaGo, an AI program developed by Google, had the Go(圍棋) match with Lee Sedol, a South Korean Go player. He is the world top player of this old Chinese game.
In October 2015, AlphaGo became the first computer program to beat a professional(職業(yè)的) human Go player. And this time, it beat Lee Sedol 4-1.
In fact, before the match, most people believed that Lee would certainly be the winner, because they didn’t think that AI was good enough to beat the human mind. However, the result was disappointing. As a machine, AlphaGo would never get tired, while Lee Sedol was only a human and humans must have some weaknesses.
AlphaGo’s wins over a human champion(冠軍) show that computers can do more difficult tasks. Some people may worry whether computers are now smart enough to beat us at everything. But scientists say that is not the case. Real life problems can be more difficult than the Go game. Thomas Johnson, a scientist of AI said, “It’s not hard to get a computer program to remember and produce facts. What is hard is getting computers to use knowledge in everyday situation. ” We believe we can use the technology of AI to improve the world.
1.The match between AlphaGo and Lee Sedol is mentioned at the beginning of the article mainly to_____________.
A. get the reader to think about AI
B. draw the reader’s attention to AlphaGo
C. show how AI is usually tested
D. tell the reader AI has over the human brain
2. What was the result of the match?
A. Google program beat AlphaGo.
B. Lee Sedol won AlphaGo 4-1.
C.Lee Sedol was beaten.
D.Neither side won the match.
3.—Why did most people believe Lee would be the winner?
—Because .
A. computers had weaknesses and also got tired
B. AlphaGo only beat a human Go player once
C. the Go game was invented by Chinese people
D. computers were not so smart as a human
4.What does Thomas Johnson probably agree with?
A. AI does better than humans in every situation.
B. It’s hard for AI to beat the human at everything.
C. The development of AI could be harmful one day.
D. AI should be used to help us make difficult decisions.

Andrew Holleman, a 12-year-old boy, loved playing in the open land near his home. The land was wet and forested, and made a home for birds, other animals and many different plants.
It made the perfect place for him to study and get to know the nature. He had seen some red-tail hawks, red foxes, wood turtles and other animals. He also found special native flowers.
Suddenly it was announced that the “empty” land would be improved by a lot of houses on it. The plants would be removed, the animals would run away and most would probably die. Then the wet soil would be covered with extra grounds.
When he heard about the news, he was not happy. He was very worried that the land ans water would be polluted.
Andrew wrote down clearly all the research he had down about the area, and how the houses would affect the local environment. He sent letters to members of local government and television reporters. He also called on his neighbors to oppose the building of the houses.
Although he was only 12 years old, he had the courage and wisdom of a person much older. Andrew’ s teachers described him as gentle, shy and active. His classmates also admired how much he knew about local animals and plants, and the environment. Each day after school, Andrew went door-to-door, to ask the people to sign, who did not want the houses to be built. In only one month, he got the signatures of 250 people.
In the end, the land remained a safe place for birds, animals and plants that belonged there.

There are lots of dangerous and terrible insects in Northeastern India, but the tree-bees are the most terrible. They are killers. Unlike most bees which will sting (叮咬) you only if they are disturbed (打擾), tree-bees will attack you in thousands for no reason. And they will chase (追趕) you for your life.
Walking along a dusty road while I was on holiday there last year. I found myself, without the least warning, the centre of such an attack. The air above me suddenly became thick with bees. Though it was hot, I went cold all over. Until then I had never heard of Indian tree-bees, but I had recently seen a film called “The Angry Swarm”, which was about killer-bees.
I began running to the village about half a mile away, but I was soon covered from head to foot with bees. I drove them away with my hands, only to make room for others. Each time I opened my mouth for breath, more bees entered my mouth, until it was stung to twice its usual size and I could hardly breathe.
When I reached the village, I found some workers building a house. I ran towards them for help. But as soon as the workers saw the bees with me, they ran for safety at top speed.
Soon my eyes had completely closed. I fell into a pile of brick dust. I pushed myself wildly down into it until my head and shoulders were covered. And then I tried hard to get out of the dust, the angry bees made a new attack on me. I was tired out and ran weakly about in circles. Soon I lost my consciousness (意識(shí)).
Later I learned that two quick-minded villagers ran to a pile of dry grass and quickly surrounded (包圍) me with a thick wall of fire and smoke until the bees were driven away. They stayed with me, taking stings out of my body for the next three hours until a doctor came and gave me further treatment.
1. What can we infer (推斷) from the second paragraph?
A. The temperature went down at that time.
B. The air suddenly became thick because of the dust.
C. The writer knew Indian tree-bees were the most dangerous.
D. The writer felt scared when he was surrounded by tree-bees.
2.In which order did the following things happen to the writer?
a. He tried to drive away the bees but failed.
b. He was surrounded with a thick wall of fire and smoke.
c. He was tired out and lost consciousness later.
d. He watched a film named “The Angry Swarm”.
e. He was attacked by tree-bees while taking a walk.
A. e-a-c-b-d B. d-e-a-c-b C. e-b-a-d-c D. d-e-a-b-c
3.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. Tree-bees often attack people in large numbers.
B. Tree-bees can be driven away by fire and smoke.
C. Tree-bees do not give up easily when they attack people.
D. Tree-bees will not attack people unless they are disturbed.
