I’m glad it’s Sunday again. I can stay in bed 1 I like, drinking tea and read those thick newspapers that are brought by the newsboy through the letterbox at 8:30. In this way, I can catch up with all the 2 I haven’t got time to read during my work time.
When I 3 the papers, I then prepare my bath. The Sunday morning bath is 4 of the week. There’s no need to hurry because there’s no bus to 5 and my friends are told not to call me up before noon on Sundays, so there is no danger of being troubled by the telephone.
6 spend the afternoon after lunch is always a bit of problem. In summer I can go to the park and sit in a chair 7 boys playing football, while in winter I sit in front of the fire and 8 when reading a book, sometimes I turn on the television and sleep through an old film.
Then there’s the evening ahead of me. Perhaps I’ll call on some friends or go to the cinema 19 a new film I want to see or to town for a concert. Oh, there are 10 pleasant ways of passing Sunday evenings. The only sad thing is that Monday morning is getting near.

科目:初中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源:2012屆江蘇省泰興市實(shí)驗(yàn)初中初三3月月考英語(yǔ)試卷(帶解析) 題型:閱讀理解
You probably know you should say “please” and “thank you” at restaurants. You probably know the rules of a library. You know you should respect(尊重) and be nice to your classmates. But do you have music manners?
Keep It Down! You have to notice the volume of your music. You should not play your music so loud that everyone around you can hear it. Some people might even get angry. Usually, when you play the music loud on an MP3 player, other people can't hear the words of the song. They just hear a loud sound. No one wants to listen to this. Very loud music can also be bad for your ears, so even if you are alone when listening to your MP3 player, you shouldn’t have it turned up too high.
Take Them off! You need to know when to turn your MP3 player off and put it away. Libraries and schools don't allow MP3 players. There are other places, like museums, that don’t have rules, but it would be rude to have your MP3 player on. Why would you listen to music at a play, a movie or a sporting event? You would miss what is going on and others would wonder why you even came.
Take One Out! Once in a while it's OK just to take out one earphone and not the other. Imagine you are listening on your MP3 player when someone asks you the way. It would not be rude to take out one earphone, tell him the way, and put back the earphone and continue listening. You can also do this when you order food at a fast-food restaurant or when you answer the telephone and it's not for you.
It’s Your Choice! There are times when you need to decide what is best. For example, some people can listen to music on their MP3 players when reading books, while others think it is disturbing. In cases like this, you need to do what seems right for you.

All the wisdom of the times, all the stories that have delighted mankind for centuries, are easily and cheaply available to all of us in books, but we must know how to make use of this treasure. The unluckiest people in the world are those who have never discovered how satisfying it is to read good books.
I’m very interested in people and finding out about them. Some of the most amazing people I’ve met could only be found in a writer’s imagination, then in his book, and then, again, in my imagination. I’ve found in books new friends and new worlds.
Reading is fun, not because the writer is telling you something, but because it makes your mind work. Your own imagination works along with the writer’s or even goes beyond his. Your experience, compared with his, brings you to the same or different conclusions, and your ideas develop as you understand his.
Every book stands by itself, like a one-family house, but books in a library are like houses in a city. Although they are separate(分開的), in some way they are connected with each other. The same ideas, or related(相關(guān)的) ones, appear in different places; the human problems that repeat themselves in life repeat themselves in books, but with different solutions(解決方法) according to different writings at different times. Books influence each other. They connect the past, the present and the future and have their own generations (age groups), like families. Wherever you start reading, you connect yourself with one of the families of ideas, and in the end, you not only find out about the world and the people in it, you find out about yourself, too.
Reading can only be fun if you expect it to be. If you concentrate on(專注于) books somebody tells you “ought” to read, you probably won’ t have fun. But if you put down a book you don’t like and try another till you find one that means something to you, and then relax with it, you will almost certainly have a good time — and if you become, as a result of reading, better, wiser, kinder, or more gentle, you won’t suffer during the process.

C.You will get much delight from any book that you are told to read. |
D.You can relax yourself by reading because it involves little thinking. |
A.We can often find something connected with ourselves in books. |
B.Different writings at different times share the same characteristics. |
C.The same problems will appear in different books with similar solutions. |
D.Reading books which are written for your generation is more helpful to you. |
A.To advise us to enjoy ourselves by reading. |
B.To encourage us to make full use of libraries. |
C.To encourage us to find out solutions in books. |
D.To advise us to discuss books with other people. |

If the eyes are the windows of the soul, then the body is the mirror of our feelings. If we are feeling great, we may give our body signals(信號(hào)). If we look at someone else’s body, we can often tell how thy are feeling by their body signals. So reading body language signals is a great tool in daily communication.
In case(假使) you don’t think that learning how to read and use body language is important, here are some numbers for you. 7% of the information we receive is from what people actually say, and 38% of the information we receive is from the tone(語(yǔ)氣) and the speed of their voice; while 55% of the information we receive is from their body language.
These non-verbal(非語(yǔ)言的) signals will help you a lot, but you still need to focus on what people are saying. If you focus too much on their body language signals, you and the person may feel uncomfortable. It is useful to be able to read people’s body language, but it is useful to learn how to send the right signals and avoid the wrong signals too. Body language may be given several interpretations. Many signals have different meanings, depending on the person and the situation. Be sure of it when you are trying to read a body language signal.
Facial expression is one of the body languages. Facial expressions are one or more movements on a person’s face, such as frowning(皺眉),raising your eyebrows and rolling(旋轉(zhuǎn)) your eyes. Scientists say that humans have 80 muscles(肌肉) on their faces. These muscles can make 7.000 different facial expressions. These expressions can be put into six classes. They are happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and disgust(厭惡)。
For example, when people think a certain food tastes disgusting, they usually make a funny face. When people are surprised, they often raise their eyebrows and open their eyes wide.
If people can read facial expressions correctly, they may be better at knowing other people’s feelings. That can help people make more friends. However, sometimes people have to be careful when reading others’ faces. It’s rude to stare at others for a long time.
