【題目】 One day Bob took two of his friends into the mountains. They put up their tents (帳篷) and then rode off to a forest. They went to see how the trees were growing.
In the afternoon it started to snow. More and more snow fell. Soon Bob could not find the road. Bob knew there were two roads. One road went to the camp, and the other went to his house. But all was white snow. Everything was the same, how could he take his friends back to the camp?
Bob had an idea. Let the horses take them back! But what would happen if the horses took the road to his house? That would be a trip of thirty-five kilometres in such cold weather!

【題目】 Qomolangma is the world’s highest mountain. (A)You may have learned from your textbooks that its height is 8,844 meters. But not all sides are in agreement on this. Different researchers have given different results. In addition, the height of the mountain can change over time.
That’s why a 30-member Chinese survey team set out to reach the peak of Qomolangma to re-measure its height on May 6.(B)They are equipped (配備) with the latest technology, including a global navigation satellite system receiver and a radar (雷達).
It is not an easy task. The average air temperature on the mountain is -29 C – four degrees lower than in Antarctica – and powerful winds blow all the time. In such bad conditions, surveying drones (無人機) cannot work at the peak of the mountain. That’s why it’s still necessary to send human experts to the peak to get reliable (可靠的) results.
But does a difference of a few meters really matter when it comes to a high mountain?
In fact, measuring the height of Qomolangma is about more than just getting one exact number. Mount Qomolangma is at the point where the Eurasian plate (板塊) meets the Indian plate.(C) It formed 38 million years ago as the two plates hit each other. Changes in the peak’s height can show whether the two plates are heading toward or away from each other. This can help us understand the movement of Earth’s crust (地殼).
The survey team will also get firsthand information about environmental conditions at the top of the mountain. This will help us understand how climate change has affected the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau.

【4】寫出文中提到的兩個板塊。

【題目】 It is often said that eyes can speak. Do you have such kind of experience? In a bus you may look at a stranger, but not too long. If he notices that he is being looked at, he may feel uncomfortable. It is the same in daily life. When you are looked at for several more times, you will look yourself up and down in order to see if there is anything wrong with you. If nothing goes wrong, you will feel angry with the person who is looking at you. Eyes can speak, right?
Looking too long at someone may seem to be impolite. But sometimes things are different. If you wish to draw someone’s attention, you may look at him or her for more than ten seconds. For lovers, they enjoy looking at each other longer to show the love that words cannot express. Clearly, eye communication should be done according to the relationship between the two people and the certain situation.
1題完成句子;2-3題簡略回答問題;4題找出并寫下全文主題句;5題將文中畫線句子譯成漢語。
