A computer can get very hot when it works on a lot of programs. It can cost a lot to cool the computer. So some scientists want to know what would happen when if the heat from the computer could be used.
Large Internet companies such as Google and Microsoft have thousands of computers. As these computers deal with information, they produce lots of heat, so they need huge cooling systems. These systems send the heat into the air.
A company in the Netherlands thinks paying to make the computers work and then paying again to cool them are a waste of energy. So the company developed a special device—the e-Radiator.
Boaz Leupe, head of the company, says that e-Radiator works as a heating system and saves money. He explains that the energy is used twice—once to heat the home and once to cool the computer and that the users don't have to pay to cool their computers.
Five homeowners in the Netherlands are testing the heating system in their homes.
"We pay for the computer usage, so in that way, homeowners get heating for free." Boaz says.
Jan Visser is one of the homeowners. "If you use the computer more, the e-Radiator produces more heat," he says. "It cannot provide enough heat if you don't use your computer often." But he is ready to try it. It's a great help to his family.
The company says e-Radiators produce heat temperature of up to 55℃. It says the system could save its users about $ 440 a year.
1.Which of the following is true?
A.Before the e-Radiator appears, the heat of a computer is usually sent into the air.
B.Google and Microsoft don't need huge cooling systems.
C.Google and Microsoft developed a special device-the e-Radiator.
D.The heat of a computer usually makes the computer work better before the e-Radiator appears.
2.What is the e-Radiator mainly used to do?
A.To help Google B.To provide heat. C.To heat the computer. D.To clean the computer.
3.How much could the system save its users a month?
A.About 220 dollars. B.About 440 dollars. C.About 44 dollars D.About 36 dollars.
4.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.A New Company B.How to Heat Computers
C.A New Way to Heat Homes D.How to Solve Environment Problems

I know that you get the idea from the Internet that you can be rich and successful without any hard work—your ticket to success is through singing, basketball or being a superstar. 1.
The truth is that being successful is hard. You will not love every subject that you study. 2. Not all homework will seem completely related to your life right at this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.
That is okay. 3. J.K. Rowling—who wrote Harry Potter—her first Harry Potter book was not accepted 12 times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career(職業(yè)生涯). But he once said,“I have failed over and over again in my life. And that’s why I succeed.”
These people succeeded because they understood the secret of success—you can not let your failures decide you. 4. You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time. So if you get into trouble, that doesn’t mean you are a troublemaker, it means you need to learn to act right. 5.
A. You have to let your failures teach you.
B. So many of you dream of being successful by hard work.
C. You won’t get along well with every teacher that you have.
D. But it is possible that you’re not going to be any of those things.
E. If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it means you need to work harder.
F. Sometimes the most successful people in the world are the ones who have had the most failures.

Being a teenager can be challenging, but it can also be exciting. You’re becoming more independent and making decisions for yourself. You are also learning to take risks and solve problems better. And changes are happening throughout your body, even in your brain.
The changes in your brain are influencing how you develop into an adult. Imagine the structure(結(jié)構(gòu))of your brain is like a big road map. Lots of roads lead to different destinations(目的地). When you were a child, as you learnt new things, your brain created more and more roads to different destinations. By the time you become a teenager, many different roads lead to the most important places on the map. Now your brain’s job is to make that map more efficient.
As a result, your experiences as a teenager actually influence the way that your brain develops. If you spend hours playing video games, what skills do you use? You learn to see something with your eyes and respond to it with your hands. As you develop those skills, your brain is making sure that the roads leading to them are especially fast and efficient. So, your video—game playing could be preparing you for a career such as a pilot.
This is a great time for you to practice new skills and discover what you’re good at and try what you love doing. Go out and try different activities, and stick to them if you think they’re useful. Remember that with everything you do, you’re shaping your brain for the future.

“How are you?” is a nice question. It’s a friendly greeting that people in the United States use. However, “How are you?” is also an unusual question. It’s a question that often doesn’t need an answer. The person who asks, “How are you?” expects to hear the answer “Fine,” even if the person isn’t fine. The reason is that “How are you?” isn’t really a question and “Fine” isn’t really an answer. They are common ways of saying “hello” or “hi”.
Sometimes, people don’t say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks “Do you agree?” the other person may be thinking, “No, I don’t. I think you’re wrong.” It isn’t polite to disagree very strongly, so he might say, “I am not so sure.” This is a nicer way to say that you don’t agree with someone.
People also don’t say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking to other people. For example, many conversations over the phone end when one person says, “I’ve got to go now,” or the person who wants to hang up gives an excuse such as “Someone is at the door,” or, “Something is burning on the stove.” The excuse may be real, or not. The person who wants to hang up simply doesn’t want to talk any more, but it isn’t polite to say so. An excuse is polite, and it doesn’t hurt the other person’s feelings.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an opinion, or ending a conversation, people often don’t say exactly what they are thinking. This is one way of being nice to people, and it’s a part of the game of language.

A.he is going to prepare an exam B.he is interested in the conversation
C.he is hurting someone’s feelings D.he’s giving an excuse to end the conversation
4.One of the rules of the game of language is ________.
