David Adler is a dreamer. He always has been. As a boy, he often created stories to make his brothers and sisters happy. His parents owned a house with three floors. They used it to keep unwanted things on the third floor. David loved to crawl (爬) around up there, looking through all the things. It gave him ideas for even more stories to tell!
David, the dreamer, grew up and became a teacher. He didn’t stop dreaming, though. One day his three-year-old nephew visited him. He asked David a question. That question was followed by another question. And another. And another. The boy’s questions just kept coming! After he left, David’s head was filled with all the questions his nephew had asked. David Adler wrote a story using all those thoughts. He sent it off to a publisher to see if they liked it. They did! His first story was going to become a book! It was called A Little At A Time.
Not a lot changed after David Adler wrote his first book. The only thing that changed was he started doing more writing. David decided to take a break from teaching when his first son was born. His wife had a good job and wanted to go back to work. David had to stay at home to care for his son. One day, David took notes of all the things that he needed each time he took the baby outside.
That thought inspired (激發(fā)) him to write a mystery book. It would be the first of many books centred on a character named Cam Jansen, a girl with an amazing memory. The books were a big success. Then he gave up teaching and became a full-time writer.
David Adler has dreamed up a lot of different stories. He still spends a lot of time dreaming. It is how he comes up with ideas for his books. He says, “Don’t Think. Just Write!” He does his best work when he just writes the things that come into his head.

【題目】
The increasing population is one of the most serious problems our world is facing now. New study shows that the world population will be 6,400,000,000 by 2050.
India will pass China as the world’s most populated country. China now has 1,300,000,000 people. The population should increase about ten percent by 2050. The United States will remain the third biggest nation whose population is close to 300,000,000 now. Because of immigration (移民) and low death rates among babies, its population will reach 420,000,000.
Between now and 2050, Niger will be the fastest growing country. The biggest decrease (減少) will be in Bulgaria. It is based on information from the United Nations.
And the study says most growth will take place in countries with young populations and traditionally large families. Nigeria and Japan will be different from each other. In Nigeria, almost half the people are under the age of fifteen. Few are over sixty-five. Nigerian women generally give birth about six times during their lives. Usually, a Japanese woman has one child. And today about twenty percent of Japanese are over the age of sixty-five.
