本文是一篇記敘文。文章主要講述了老師通過一次特殊的考試,告訴學(xué)生們:不盡如人意的黑點只是你生命中的一小部分,不要緊緊抓住不放,要看到生命中更加廣闊的愛與幸福。

1

句意:他把卷子都發(fā)給學(xué)生,要求學(xué)生翻開卷子開始作答。

read讀;set放置;turn轉(zhuǎn);check檢查。根據(jù)前文“handed out…facing downwards.”可知,剛開始試卷是面朝下的,等到都分發(fā)完畢時,老師才要求他們把試卷翻到正面答題,turn the page翻面。故選C

2

句意:令每一個人吃驚的是,那一頁紙上沒有問題,只有中間一個黑點。

delight高興;surprise驚訝;sadness傷心;disappointment失望。根據(jù)下文“The confused students…”從學(xué)生們困惑的表情中可知,此處表示的是令學(xué)生驚訝的是試卷上竟然沒有試題,to one’s surprise令某人驚訝的是。故選B

3

句意:令每一個人吃驚的是,那一頁紙上沒有問題,只有中間一個黑點。

blank空格;picture圖片;page紙;text課本。根據(jù)下文“described the black dot…on the paper.”可知,黑點是在紙上。故選C。

4

句意:老師看到每一個人臉上的表情。

symbols象征,符號;mash麥芽漿;appearances外表;expressions表情。從前文第二空描述可知,學(xué)生們很驚訝,所以老師看到的是他們驚訝的表情。故選D。

5

句意:我想讓你們寫下你們在紙上看見的東西。

remember記得;see看見;imagine想象;desire渴望。根據(jù)后文“described the black dot … it was on the paper.”每個學(xué)生都描述了這個黑點,盡力解釋黑點的所在,可知老師是讓學(xué)生描述他們在紙上看到的東西。故選B。

6

句意:困惑的學(xué)生們開始了這個不同尋常的任務(wù)。

unusual不同尋常;common普通的;boring無聊的;important重要的。結(jié)合實際,因為試卷上不是普通的題,而是一個小黑點,所以是不同尋常的考試。故選A。

7

故選A。

9

句意:每一張試卷讀完后,教室里一片寂靜。

answered回答;counted數(shù)數(shù);read閱讀;written書寫。根據(jù)上文“started reading each one of them.”可知,老師在所有學(xué)生面前讀答案,因此此處表示當(dāng)老師把所有的答案都讀完后。故選C。

10

句意:老師開始解釋。

complain抱怨;explain解釋;question提問;reply回答。老師讀完全部答案后,根據(jù)后文“I am not going… to think about”他開始給學(xué)生解釋他出題的用意,想要引發(fā)學(xué)生些許思考。故選B。

11

句意:我只是想給你們一些思考。

prefer to參考;make up組成;work out解決;think about思考。根據(jù)上文“I am not going to grade you according to this.”可知,老師并不想據(jù)此打分,所以只是想要引發(fā)學(xué)生的思考。故選D。

12

句意:每個人的注意力都集中在這個黑點上。

depended取決于;lay放在;focused集中于……;agreed同意。根據(jù)“No one wrote about the white part of the paper”可知,學(xué)生們的注意力都是在這個黑點上,focus on集中注意力于……。故選C。

13

句意:同樣的事情也發(fā)生在我們的人生中。

happens發(fā)生;appears出現(xiàn);remains保留;develops發(fā)展。從學(xué)生對白紙上的黑點的描述這件事上引申為生活中發(fā)生的事情,同樣也發(fā)生過類似的事情。故選A。

14

句意:我們的人生是一個禮物,充滿了關(guān)愛。

family家庭;life人生;friendship友誼;heart心。根據(jù)上文“and the same thing…in our lives”可知,此處講述的是我們的人生。故選B

15

句意:這些黑點令人惱火。

exciting激動的;interesting有趣的;strange奇怪的;annoying惱火的。根據(jù)上文“However, we keep focusing … with other people”可知,黑點代表的是健康問題、金錢問題以及人際關(guān)系問題,都是不盡如人意的事,所以令人煩惱、惱火。故選D。

Many students have problems with vocabulary when preparing for tests. Here is some advice on how to memorize (記憶) new words. You can build up your English vocabulary with these methods.

Repeated encounters (反復(fù)遇見)

The usual way of “memorizing” new words is through repeating them while they’re still in your mind. However, simply repeating a word doesn’t seem to be useful. But the following way is helpful: repeated encounters. Words can be memorized more easily if they’ve been met at least seven times in your reading. So, read English magazines and newspaper from time to time.

Spacing and review

It’s necessary to make a plan of your memory work over a period of time. You’d better memorize words day by day instead of doing it in a single day. That’s why new vocabulary introduced in one lesson is reviewed in the next, and then in later lessons.

Use it or lose it

Putting words to use in interesting ways helps add them to your long-term memory. In a study of vocabulary learning, students who made up their own sentences with new words and read them aloud memorized them better than those who learned the words separately and silently. Besides, you can imagine a picture when memorizing a new word. That can help a lot.

Mix it up

Let’s face it — learning words can be really boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Thanks to the Internet, there are more interesting ways to get the job done. Try watching videos from English-speaking countries and copying the way they speak. You can even upload ( ) your own videos and try becoming a star yourself.

1完成句子You can memorize the words more easily if you meet them________in your reading.

It was the year of the pig last year. Many people believe that pigs are naturally fat, lazy and dirty. But are any of those things true?

It is true that pigs are fat. They eat a lot. But they are 1 to us. They give us food. We can use their skin to make shoes. We can use their hair to make 2. Pig parts can also help make insulin(胰島素) to treat diabetes(糖尿病).

People sometimes say someone is as stupid as a pig,3 pigs are not stupid at all. In fact, pigs are one of the ten 4 animals. Many people think pigs are 5 to train. In France, people teach pigs 6 something and they can find them faster than dogs.

Pigs are usually in dirty water or mud because they have no sweat glands (汗腺). So on hot days, they have to cool 7 there. This keeps insects away 8 them and mud can also protect their skin from sunburns.

People have stereotypes (偏見) of pigs. But people in ancient 9 really liked pigs. People thought their big head and ears were a symbol of good luck. If someone had a round and chubby (胖乎乎)face, he or she was 10 to be blessed(有福氣的). People also believed the animal stood for wealth. Most children have a piggy bank that they can use to save money.

Fill the tent with soft toys and blankets(毯子). Have lightweight sleeping bags or cotton blankets. They are especially important if you live where the night temperatures drop greatly.

Prepare a seating area.

If you have a picnic table, that would work best. If not, set up a few chairs and a small table to setout drinks and food. A simple choice is to lay out a blanket in the sun, so that your friends can eat and talk. Be sure the grass isn't wet!
