In today’s world, sleep experts say that for a better night’s rest, Americans should turn off their smartphones or iPad before sleeping. Such electronic products make the brain more active, and then influence their sleep. But according to a latest survey, more than 90% of Americans regularly use a computer or some other kinds of electronic products in the hour before bed.

Researchers are finding that man-made light from some electronic products at night may reduce the brain chemicals(化學(xué)物質(zhì)) that help sleep. The researchers showed that sitting in the light from computer tablets clearly lowered levels of the chemical which manages our body clocks and plays a role in the sleep cycle.

In the study, the researchers let volunteers read, play games and watch movies on a tablet for different time while measuring(測量) how much light their eyes received. They found that two hours of sitting before a bright tablet screen at night reduced the sleep chemical levels by about 22%.

Studies of students using computers at night have got the similar results. And researchers say that may not only cause sleeplessness, but also raise the risk of obesity(肥胖癥), diabetes(糖尿病) and other diseases.

To be on the safe side, the researchers advise us to use computers less before bed, or at the very least turning down your screen as much as possible.

Courage is the ability to be brave in various situation in our life. Here and there, now and then, everyone needs courage to do something well. Courage may make you confident of your success. If you have courage, you will not show fear in face of anything difficult or dangerous. With courage, you mak look someone in the eye who you have wronged and say “I am sorry”: you may still smile even if you are seriously ill and know you are at the end of your life.

How can we build up our courage?

Believe you will be successful. Take chances and know that you have your own talents. Besides, your family and friends are always there for you.

Exercise your courage. It can be compared to a muscle(肌肉). The more we use it, the stronger courage gets.

Success is not easy to talk about because for some people it means power(權(quán)力), for some people it means wealth(財(cái)富), for others it is fame(名聲) or great achievements(成就). But I have my own understanding of it. There are different ways to succeed.

Success means to try your best. Many people believe that success means to win. In my opinion, it means to try your best when you do everything, no matter you will win or not. When you are taking part in a long-distance race, if you keep on running as fast as you can, you are successful, although you may be the last to pass the finishing-line.

Success means to work hard. No one can be successful without any hard work. Tomas Edison succeeded, because he had experimented(實(shí)驗(yàn)) thousands of times to find the best material for lights. Every success calls for hard work.

Success means not to lose heart. No one can always be the winner. You will certainly lose or fail some day. It is important for you not to lose heart. Nobel had failed many times when he was doing his experiments. Sometimes his lab was on fire and he was nearly killed. But he never lost heart and kept on trying. Finally he invented a new explosive(炸藥). So when you fail or meet any difficulty, just believe in yourself, stand up and give the difficulty a heavy strike(一擊).

How to succeed

Success means power , wealth , fame and achievements, but I have different understanding .

1. of success

Trying your best

Whatever we do, we should do our best, no matter we will win or not.

When you 2. part in a long-distance race, if you keep on trying your best to run, you are successful, although you may be the last to pass the finishing-line.
