     Johnny is a middle school student. He is nice,but sometimes he is lazy. One day,he didn't do his homework. He thought ,“I don't want to be punished (懲罰) ，so I need a good excuse (借口) . ”

thought long about excuses ,“I could say I lost my homework in an earthquake (地震) or a Hood (洪水) .But,no ,last night everything was fine." He kept thinking of excuses before class.

At last,when the teacher asked to see his homework,Johnny said, “I'm,my dog ate my homework."The teacher looked at Johnny for a long time and then said ,“But Johnny,you don't have a dog."

     Johnny's excuse didn't work. And excuses don't work often. When we do something wrong,it's better to be honest (誠實) .By making an excuse we think we are avoiding (避 免) trouble,but we’re really making the problem bigger. By being honest,you will be a better person and people will like you more,especially (尤其) if he isn’t blamed (被指責(zé)) for eating your homework!
