It is the duty of every man to work. The life of a lazy man isn’t useful to himself and to others. If one is too lazy to work ,he will probably beg (乞討) or steal (偷).So every boy, when he is young, should learn some useful work.
But it is not enough that a boy should learn some kind of work. He should put all his heart into his work, and not waste his free time. “Work while you work and play while you play” is important for young people as for the old.
The habit of getting up early is helpful to diligence(勤奮), and this, just like all other good habits, is most easily formed(形成) when one is young. There is an English saying “Lost time never returns.” This means that everybody must be diligent, and make use of (利用)his time. One must study hard when one is young so that one may make great progress, succeed(成功) in life and become useful to one’s country.  So we can say that diligence is the mother of success.

Several years ago, a television reporter was interviewing three of the most important people from local businesses. One was a very rich banker, another owned one of the largest companies in the world, and the third owned many buildings in the center of New York.
The reporter was talking to them about being important.

When it comes to friends, I desire those who will share my happiness, who has wings of their own and who will fly with me.
When I was in the eighth grade, I had a friend. We were shy and “too serious” about our studies when it was becoming fashionable with our classmates to learn acceptable social behaviors. We said little at school, but she would come to my house and we would sit down with pencils and paper, and one of us would say, “Let’s start with a train whistle(鳴笛)today.” We would sit quietly together and write separate poems or stories that grew out of a train whistle. Then we would read them aloud. At the end of that school year, we, too, were changing into social persons and the stories and poems stopped.
When I lived for a time in London, I had a friend. He was in despair(失望)and I was in despair, too. But our friendship was based on the idea in each of us that we would be sorry later if we did not travel over this great city because we had felt bad at the time. We met every Sunday for five weeks and found many excellent things. We walked until our despairs disappeared and then we parted. We gave London to each other.
For almost four years I have had a great friend whose imagination brightens mine. We write long letters in which we often discover our strangest selves. Each of us appears, sometimes in a funny way, in the other’s dreams. She and I agree that, at certain times, we seem to be parts of the same mind.
It is such comforting companions(陪伴)I wish to keep. One bright hour with their kind is worth more to me than the lifetime services of a psychologist, who will only fill up the healing silence necessary to those darkest moments in which I would rather be with my own best friend.
【小題1】We can infer from Paragraph 2 that the writer ______ finally.

A.wasn’t serious about her studies

D.we waved goodbye to each other in London
【小題3】What is the best title for the passage?
A.Unforgettable Experiences.

Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying “Friends are God's way of taking care of us.” But how do you find real friendship and keep it?
The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed (種子) and take care of it to make it grow.
First, you should choose a friend. What good friends should you make? It’s not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complains and do his or her best to help. To make a friend, you can not be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives. But things cannot always be happy. Even the best have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friend? You have to talk to him or her. When there is no one around, have an honest talk. If he or she doesn't want to talk, you could write a letter.
There are three steps to being friends again:
Tell him or her how you are feeling ; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life.

What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life? Somebody mentions hard-work, others suggest knowledge, love and luck.
If you arrange the 26 English letters alphabetically and use numbers to represent each of them, for example, 1 for a, 2 for b, 3 for c…, you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work becomes 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11=" 98," meaning 98 is its mark; knowledge: 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5="96," while love: 12+15+22+5="54," and luck: 12+21+3+11="47," a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money or prayer? They can’t, either.
Then what else? Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, which is your attitude. Yes, attitude is the word. See for yourself: attitude: 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100,a full mark!
Different attitudes lead to different courses of life. Most times people hope for a better life. It is possible that one will have a change for the better after one has changed one’s attitude.
When you change your manner and became friendly towards others, you’ll meet more smiling faces towards you. In the same way, if you take a positive attitude towards failure, you’ll find it’s also rewarding though it has caused you losses.
【小題1】Some people think it is important to have hard-work, knowledge, _______in their life.
【小題2】According to the passage, the mark of the word “money” is _________.
【小題3】From the passage, we know it’s possible for you_______if you change your attitude.
【小題4】People will meet_______ towards them when they change their manners and become friendly to others.
【小題5】The main idea of the passage is that ___________.
