The Canal Pioneers, by Chris Lewis. James Brindley is regarded as one of the leading early canal(運河) engineers. He was also an important player in training others in the art of canal planning and building. Chris Lewis will explain how much Brindley did for the education of that group of early canal engineers.

Ice for the Metropolis, by Malcolm Tucker. Well before fridges coming, there was a need for ice for food keeping. Malcolm will explain the history of importing natural ice and the technology of building ice wells, and how London’s ice trade grew.

An Update on the Cotswold Canals, by Liz Payne. The Stroudwater Canal is moving towards reopening. The Thames and Severn Canal will take a little longer. We will have a report on the present state of development.

Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history? Many people would think of Confucius, whose birthday was September 28. Although he lived over 2,000 years ago, people still remember and respect him for his contribution to the education today.
