A. a; a B. the; the C. a; the D. the; a

Title: Inner voice helps a lot throughout our lives.
When you couldn’t open your mouth till the first two years on the earth, inner voice helps you understand things. Inner voice always shows thoughts and ideas in the body.
It justifies (判斷) what is right and what is wrong. When we go against inner voice, we usually feel uncomfortable throughout our lives.
Sometimes when we are feeling sad, we seem to need some kind of support in spirit. We usually speak to our closest friend or our dearest family member during times of unhappiness to feel better. After talking to them, we suddenly feel active again, because our inner voice reminds us to get on with things and leave the things of the past in the memory.
Inner voice is always right most of the time, because it knows us better than others and even ourselves. It’ s good to go by inner voice most of the time. Whenever you are trying to smoke, or whenever you are asked to choose one side in an argument, you are always worried about the result. During these times, your inner voice tells you what to do. If you don’t follow your inner voice, you might be unhappy in the future. It’ s our own choice to either pay no attention to our inner voice or follow it and search for real happiness.

JOINING A CHOIR
I’ve always loved singing, but singing hasn’t always loved me. I
would open my mouth with a beautiful song in my head, fully expecting
my voice to follow suit — only to get an awful tone (音調(diào))in return.
Still, without a second thought, I continued to try to sing whenever
possible. On car journeys, when my now twenty something sons were
small, they would make a great play ( hands over their ears, shouting
‘ No,Mum,stop!’) of going through punishment as I sang along to the radio.
Never in a hundred years would I have thought about joining a choir. And when I did finally become a member of my first choir 15 years ago, something fantastic happened to my life. From the first time I experienced my voice as something special but also comfortable, in harmony (和諧)with the other singers, I lost my heart to singing. It was like falling in love. And everyone in the choir had the same shining smiles and bright eyes — singing made them feel happy, too.
Although it is singing itself that makes me happy,it is also how a choir works together. There is something magical about breathing together. The voice of everyone singing quietly together is powerful and excitingly mysterious (神秘的),almost spiritual.
And there’s the unexpected friendship from the activities we do as a choir: raising money for good causes and taking our singing sometimes to places where people are forgotten and sad.
I am now a member of six choirs and,if I can, sing every day of the week. I stand in front of several hundred people, and know that some,if not all,of each song will sound not bad at all.
1.What did the writer’s sons think of her singing when they were small?
A. Terrible. B. Comfortable. C. Fantastic. D. Boring.
2.When did the writer join her first choir?
A. A week ago. B. Six years ago. C. Fifteen years ago. D. Twenty years ago.
3.What brings the writer the unexpected friendship?
A. Having car journeys with her sons.
B. Helping others by singing in choirs.
C. Having shining smiles and bright eyes.
D. Singing in front of hundreds of people.
1.A 2.C 3.B 【解析】文章講述了作者喜歡唱歌,但是唱的不好,后來她加入合唱團(tuán)的故事。 1.根據(jù)when my now twenty something sons were small, they would make a great play ( hands over their ears, shouting‘ No,Mum,stop!’) 兒子用手捂住耳朵讓她停...查看答案和解析>>

In the 1920s, the airlines were just beginning. It was unusual for people to travel by air because it was expensive and dangerous. In those days, there were no flight attendants (服務(wù)生) to look after the passengers. Young men, or “stewards” helped the passengers onto the airplane and carried the passengers’ bags but they did not provide food and drinks. But then in 1930, a woman called Ellen Church invented the “stewardess”.
Ellen Church was born in 1904 on a farm in Iowa. She was a different child. She didn’t want to work on a farm or marry a farmer. She wanted a more adventurous (冒險的) life. Ellen studied to be a nurse at the University of Minnesota and then got a job in a hospital. For the next few years she stayed at the hospital and at the same time took flying lessons and got her pilot’s license.
Ellen was 25 years old when she first got in touch with BAT (Boeing Air Transport). She loved flying but she understood that airlines were a man’s world. Though women like Emelia Earheart were becoming famous, she realized it was impossible for a woman to have a career as a pilot. But she had another idea. Most people were afraid of flying because flying was still not a very safe way to travel. There were often delays (延誤), many crashes and the bad weather made many passengers sick. Ellen thought nurses could take care of passengers during flights and BAT agreed.
The young woman from Iowa and seven other nurses became the first air stewardesses.
At first pilots were unhappy because they did not want stewardesses on airplanes, but passengers loved the stewardesses. In 1940 there were around 1000 of them working for different airlines. The early “stewardesses” had to be under twenty-five-year-old, single and slim. When a woman joined an airline, she had to promise not to get married or have children. It was a hard job and not well paid. They worked long hours and was paid $1 an hour.
In the 1970s, stewardesses were unhappy in their job and airlines had to make some changes. Since the 1970s, “stewardesses” have been called flight attendants. They are well paid and work fewer hours than in the past.

A. the word “stewardesses” was started from Ellen Church

C. food and drinks were offered on the plane then
D. traveling by air was very popular because of the flight attendants
