I went back to China as soon as school was over at the end of June. And I returned to Canada on August 17th.

It’s to go back to China this summer, because of the A(H1N1) flu. Everybody seemed to be . the easiest thing for us to do was to wear masks(口罩) on the plane, as my mom suggested. However, it was not to wear a mask for ten hours. I decided to put the masks into my bag wearing them.

Everything seemed OK the flight. I saw only five people wear masks all the time. When we arrived in Beijing, some came into the plane and took our temperature. Fortunately, had a fever. Therefore, I was able to get home on time.

However, everything went wrong after I got home. I became sick, with a sore throat and a fever because I had not my mom’s words. Luckily, I just had a common . while I was sick in bed, I thought that if I had listened to my mom at first, I would have never caught the cold.

It’s always wise to listen to your mom’s suggestions.

It began with one red paper clip (回形針) and ended with a house. Kyle MacDonald, a 26-year-old Canadian, got a three-bedroomed house through 14 trades (交換) that started with a single red paper clip.

Encouraged by Kyle's successful experience, now more and more young people around the world are starting their own trading activities. They set up websites where people can trade things they do not usually use with other people. A website called Peerflix allows people to trade their used DVDs. These traders usually prefer face-to-face tracing, which means they don't have to worry about who is going to pay for the delivery (遞送).

Last year, a young girl in Beijing decided to follow the example of Kyle. She started with a paper clip and hoped to get a house in the end. After several trades she now has a piano which is worth more than 10,000 yuan. But she may still have a long way to go.

You may be puzzled about why people are doing this. In fact, everyone in the trade activities gets things that are useful to them. Just as Kyle said, "What's more important to a man dying of thirst in the desert--one million dollars or a glass of water?" Kyle's words probably show why these trades are popular among young people.

James shook his money box again.

Nothing! He carefully counted the coins that lay on the bed. All that he had was $24.52 (about 153 yuan). The bicycle he wanted was at least $90! How on earth (究竟) was he going to get the rest of the money?

He knew that his friends all had bicycles. It was hard to hang out with people when you were the only one without a bicycle. He thought about what he could do. There was no point asking his parents, for he knew they had no extra money.

There was only one way to get money, and that was to earn (掙) it. He would have to find a job. He decided to ask Mr Clay for advice.

“Well, you can start right here,” said Mr Clay. “You see, my windows need cleaning and my car needs washing.”

That was the beginning of James’ part-time job.

For the next three months he worked every day after finishing his homework. He took dogs for walks, cleaned out cupboards and repaired books.
