C. Artists express their feelings and opinions in their works.
D. People know more about our culture through learning art history.
E. Art is by all means relevant to history.
F. Art history provides information of different places and people.
小題1:____________________________
A study of art history might be a good way to learn more about a culture than it is possible to learn in general history classes. Most typical history courses concentrate on politics, economics and war. But art history focuses on much more than this because art reflects not only the political values of a people, but also religious beliefs, emotions, and psychology.
小題2:____________________________
In addition, information about the daily activities of our ancestors---or of people very different from our own---can be provided by art. In short, art expresses the essential qualities of a time and a place, and a study of it clearly offers us a deeper understanding than what can be found in most history books.
小題3:____________________________
In history books, objective information about the political life of a country is presented; that is, facts about politics are given, but opinions are not expressed. Art, on the other hand, is subjective: it reflects subjective emotions and opinions. The great Spanish painter Francisco Goya was perhaps the first truly “political” artist. In his well-known painting The Third of May 1808, he criticized the Spanish government for its misuse of power over people. Over a hundred years later, symbolic images were used in Pablo Picasso’s Guernica to express the horror of war. Meanwhile, on another continent, the powerful paintings of Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros---as well as the works of Alfredo Ramos Martins---depicted(描述)these Mexican artists’ deep anger and sadness about social problems.
小題4:____________________________
In the same way, art can reflect a culture’s religious beliefs. For hundreds of years in Europe, religious art was almost the only type of art that existed. Churches and other religious buildings were filled with paintings that depicted people and stories from the Bible. Although most people couldn’t read, they could still understand biblical(圣經的)stories in the pictures on church walls.
小題5:____________________________
By contrast, one of the main characteristics of art in the Middle East was (and still is) its absence of human and animal images. This shows the Islamic belief that statues are unholy. Something else can be more religiously symbolic in history.

What’s your idea about success? Some people say that beginners have all the luck, while others believe that success    1  only with practice. In fact, I feel both of these statements (陳述) are not true all the time. Each is true in some ways    2   not in others.

One day when some government officials(官員) were building a barn(谷倉), they found a mouse hole in a corner and used smoke to make the mice inside the hole come out. A while later they indeed saw mice running out, one after another. Then, everyone thought that all the mice had escaped. But just as they began to clean up, they saw two mice squeezing(擠)out at the mouth of the hole. With some efforts, the mice finally got out. However, it was strange that after they came out of the hole, they didn’t run away immediately. Instead, one chased after the other near the mouth of the hole. It seemed that one was trying to bite the tail of the other.
Everyone was puzzled(困惑), so they stepped near to take a look. They realized that one of the mice was blind and couldn’t see anything, and the other was trying to allow the blind mouse to bite on his tail so that he could pull the blind one with him to escape.
After seeing what happened, everyone was speechless and lost in thought. During the meal time, the group of people sat down in a circle and started to chat about what happened to the two mice.
One serious American official said, “I think the relationship between those mice was that of king and guard(衛(wèi)兵).” The other thought for a while and said, “That is why!”
A smart Frenchman said, “I think the relationship between those two mice was that of husband and wife.” Again the others thought for a while, and all felt it made sense.
A Japanese said, “I think the relationship between those two mice was that of mother and son.” Once again the others thought for a while, and felt this was more reasonable. So they expressed(表達) agreement another time.
At that moment, one Chinese asked, “Why did those two mice have to have a certain relationship?”
Suddenly, the group looked back at the Chinese and stayed speechless. The American official, the French and the Japanese who had spoken earlier all lowered their heads in shame(羞愧), and did not dare to answer.
In fact, the true love is not built on friendship, loyalty(忠誠) or blood relationship.
Instead, it is based on no relationship.

One day a lonely girl found two weak birds while she was walking in the woods(樹林).She took them home and put them in a small cage. She fed them with love and the birds grew strong. Every morning they greeted her with a beautiful song. The girl loved them very much and wanted their singing to last forever.

Once a circle missed a wedge(楔子). The circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its missing piece. But because it was incomplete and therefore could roll only very slowly.  It admired the flowers along the way. It chatted with grasses. It enjoyed the sunshine. It found lots of different pieces, but none of them fit. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on searching. Then one day the circle found a piece that fit perfectly. It was so happy. It put the found piece into itself and began to roll. Now it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to notice the flowers or to talk to the grasses. When it rolled so quickly, it realized how different the world seemed. Then it stopped, left the found piece by the side of the road and rolled slowly away.
The lesson of the story , I suggested, was that in some strange sense we are more whole when we are missing something. The man who has everything isn’t in some ways a whole man. He will never know what it feels like to yearn(渴望), to hope, to come true the dream of something better.
根據(jù)短文內容,判斷句子正(T)誤(F)。 (共5小題,每小題2分,滿分10分)

小題4: The circle stopped by the side of the road and enjoyed the sunshine.
