A king received a gift of two great falcons (獵鷹), and they were really beautiful. He gave the birds to his head falconer to be trained.

One day, the falconer told the king that although one of the falcons was soaring (高飛) high in the

sky, the other bird couldn't move from its branch (樹枝) since the day it arrived.

The king called on many falcon trainers to train the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly.

After he tried everything else, the king thought to himself, "Maybe I need someone more

familiar (熟悉的) with the countryside to work out this problem.” So he asked his men to go and get a farmer.

In the morning, the king was surprised to find the falcon was soaring high above the gardens. The king asked the farmer, “How did you make the falcon fly?” The farmer said to the king, “It was very easy. I just cut the branch which the bird was sitting on".

We are all made to fly. But sometimes we just sit on our branches, don't want to leave the things that are familiar to us. So sometimes our lives are boring and not exciting. Let us learn to cut the branch that we are familiar with and free ourselves to a brave soar!

1.The king's gift is____________.

2._____________made the other falcon fly.

3.The king felt____________when he saw the other falcon fly.

4.We want to sit on our branches because__________.

5.If we want to live an exciting life, we should_______________.

Camels(駱駝) are amazing animals. They aren’t the most beautiful animals in the world. But they are certainly the most useful animals in the hot areas such as North Africa and the Middle East. They usually help people carry things. Now let’s learn more about camels.

There are two kinds of camels on the Earth. They are Arabian (阿拉伯的) camels and Asian camels. Arabian camels are dromedaries (單峰駱駝), but Asian camels are bactrians (雙峰駱駝). An adult camel is about 2 meters tall and weighs about 500 kilograms. Its legs are long. And its feet are big and soft. Most of the camels can live for about 40 years, but they usually stop working when they are about 25.

Camels live alone in the desert (沙漠). They aren’t afraid of the hot and cold weather. They mainly eat grass, leaves and bushes. They can walk for more than 600 kilometers without drinking. They only need to drink water every six or eight days. But when there is water, they can drink up to 90 liters ( 升). Camels walk slowly. They don’t like running because it’s too hot. But if they need, they can run at 20 kilometers an hour.
