I still remember the last time when two of my children and I went to the playground. It had rained during the night and the playground was very muddy (泥濘的). They had just put on clean clothes, so I was a little worried about the pools of water on the playground. It was not long before Kathy got her beautiful skirt dirty on the playground. She dug through the rocks. I was about to blame her for getting her clothes dirty when she ran towards me with a smile on her face. When she got to me, she handed me a little heart-shaped rock and said, “Here Mom! Here is a heart for you-just because I love you! Keep it!” with tears in my eyes, I thanked her.
Should I blame her for getting her clothes muddy? No way! I still have that little heart-shaped rock. It is one of the best gifts that I have ever received. I realize that many times it is not necessary for us adults to worry about the small things our children do. Let them do what they’d like to.
I will spend a lot more time on the playground with my children. I’m sure I will learn a lot from the children. It reminds me of some years ago when my grandfather told me, “You would not enter the kingdom (王國(guó)) of happiness until you pretended (假裝) to be a small child.”
小題1:The writer was deeply moved by her daughter’s ____________.
A.digging task on the playground
B.love of the muddy playground
C.special way to show her love
D.smile on her face when running
小題2:From Paragraph 2, we can learn that the writer thought parents should _________.
A.a(chǎn)llow kids to do whatever they like
B.keep the presents given by children
C.not give too much care to their own children
D.not worry about the small things their children do
小題3:In the last paragraph, Grandpa’s words imply (暗示) that _____________.
A.children may find happiness easily in life
B.children care more about happiness than adults do
C.a(chǎn)dults cannot share children’s happiness
D.a(chǎn)dults should pretend to be a child

As the sun rose, a dewdrop (露珠)woke up. There it sat on a leaf, catching the sunlight. Proud of its simple beauty, it was very happy. Around it were other dewdrops, some on the same leaf and some on other leaves. The dewdrop was sure that it was the best, the most special dewdrop of them all.
Ah, it was good to be a dewdrop.
The wind blew and the plant began to shake, tipping (使傾斜) the leaf. The dewdrop became frightened as it started to move towards the edge (邊緣)of the leaf. Why was this happening? Things were comfortable. Things were safe. Why did they have to change? Why? Why?
The dewdrop reached the edge of the leaf. It was sure that this was the end. The day had only just begun and the end had come so quickly. It seemed so unfair. It seemed so meaningless. It tried hard to do whatever it could to stay on the leaf, but it was no use.
Finally, it fell. Below there was a mirror. A reflection of the dewdrop seemed to be coming up to meet it.  Closer and closer they came together until finally.., the small dewdrop became a part of the great pond (池塘). Now the dewdrop was no more, but it was not destroyed.

Happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to envy(羨慕,妒忌)those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country road in their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. Have successful people ever felt sad? Do they have any "secrets" to success? The answers to these questions can be found in US president Barack Obama’s "back to school" speech. Here is a small part of his speech.
I know that sometimes, after watching TV, you may feel that you can be rich and successful without any hard work--that your ticket to success is through rapping (饒舌音樂(lè)) or basketball or being a TV star. But when chances come, you may not succeed.
The truth is, being successful is hard. And you may not succeed at everything the first time you try. That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world have had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected(退稿)12 times before it finally came out. Michael Jordan lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career (職業(yè)生涯). But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures beat you--you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.
No one’s born being good at things. You become good at things through hard work. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
And even when you’re struggling(掙扎), even when you’re discouraged(泄氣), and you feel like other people have given up on you--don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.
小題1:Why does Barack Obama talk about JK Rowling and Michael Jordan in the second paragraph?
A.To show that these two famous persons are different.
B.To show that writing and sports are difficult skills.
C.To show that the two persons were treated unfairly.
D.To show that being successful is hard.
小題2:Barack Obama believes ____________ in his speech.
A.you can be rich and successful without any hard work
B.you may succeed at everything the first time you try
C.you can’t let your failures beat you
D.you shouldn’t ask other people for help
小題3:What does the underlined sentence mean?
A.If you’re discouraged, you should give up on yourself.
B.You should believe in yourself no matter how difficult it is.
C.When you’re struggling, you’ll feel like other people have given up on you.
D.If you are not struggling or discouraged, you can give up on yourself.
小題4:What’s the best title of this small part of Mr. Obama’s speech?
A.The way to succeedB.Failures can help you
C.Don’t give up on yourselfD.Barack Obama’s success

An old man was fishing on the bank of a river. A child came to see him fishing. The old man was really good at fishing and it didn't take long for him to catch a full basket of fish. The old man saw that the child was very cute, and he wanted to give her a whole basket of fish. But the child shook her head. The old man was surprised and asked, "Why don't you want the fish? '
The child replied," I want the fishing rod(竿)in your hands. "
The old man asked," Why do you want the rod?"
"It doesn't take long to eat all the fish in a basket. But if I have the fishing rod, I can go fishing by myself and I won't be afraid of not having any more fish to eat.
I think you will certainly say that the child is very smart. Wrong! If she doesn't know how to fish, she cannot have fish to eat, even though she has the fishing rod. It's useless to only have a fishing rod. Fishing skills are the most important, not the fishing rod.
Too many people think that if they have a "fishing rod" in their life, they will no longer fear the wind and rain. They are just like the child, who thought that if she had a fishing rod, she would have fish to eat.
小題1:The old man was fishing on the bank of________.
A. a river    B. a lake     C. a pool
小題2: Why did the child refuse the fish the old man gave her?
A. Because she didn't like fish.
B. Because she wanted his fishing rod.
C. Because the old man had few fish.
小題3:The writer thought the child was_____ after she explained why she didn't want the fish.
A. smart        B. hardworking        C. silly
小題4:The article mainly tells us______.
A. if you have a "fishing rod" in your life, you won't be afraid of anything
B. if you have a fishing rod, you'll have a lot of fish to eat
C. "fishing skills" are more important than "the fishing rod" in life
小題5: What is the best tide(標(biāo)題)for the article?
A. The Fishing Rod  B. The Fishing Man  C. The Fishing Girl
