18.A recent report found 46% of parents agreed that their child knew more about the Internet than they did.And now new research shows parents are turning to their children for lessons in technology.
The new study of around 1,000parents showed that 67% of parents have asked their teenage children for technology-related advice.44% have asked their teenagers for help using the Internet,and 41% have received teen advice about how to use the TV or home entertainment system
Robert,a father of five children,says his children help him with technology in the home."They've grown up surrounded by technology,"he explains."We have four computers and four iPads in our house.If I want to know something technical they're the ones I go to."
He says his nine-year-old son Ben is the only person in the house who really understands the TV.So he tells Ben which film he wants to watch and Ben connects his mobile phone to the TV."You teach your kids everyday life lessons,but the tables are turned when it comes to technology,"says Robert.
As well as learning how to use technology properly,there is another advantage of parents asking their children to help them understand the digital(數(shù)字的) world.They may be able to get a better understanding of what their kids are doing online.
Will Gardner of the charity Childnet International says,"We have to continuously encourage parents to find out more about what their children are doing online.If the kids are using a social networking site,get them to show you around it if you're not using it already."

42.What do we know about the new study?A
A.Many parents turned to their teenagers for technology advice.
B.Most teenagers know more about the Internet than their parents.
C.About half of the parents have no idea how to use a computer.
D.Few parents trust their children to give them advice on technology.
43.What does the underlined part"the tables are turned"probably mean?C
A.The duty is carried out.
B.The pleasure will increase.
C.The situation is changed.
D.The difficulty becomes less.
44.Will Gardner seems to suggest that parents shouldB.
A.try to learn how to make friends online
B.keep an eye on children's online safety
C.encourage children to use social network sites
D.a(chǎn)sk children to teach them how to use computers
45.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?D
A.Internet:Open to our kids too early
B.Technology:Challenge for everyone
C.Parents:Confused by new technology
D.Children:Parents'technology advisors.

16.My First Day of School
Fear started taking over,I was walking into my first school in America.I had traveled a long distance from India in order to join my parents, hoping America would help my future.
On the first day, with fear,I reached for the door, opening it slowly.Everyone's eyes were on me as I entered the room.Without paying attention to them,I went straight to the teacher and asked if this was the right class. With a soft voice he answered,"Yes,"His voice comforted me a little. Then he asked me to choose where I would sit.I chose the seat closest to the door.In India we had assigned (指定的) seats.I spent the rest of the class taking notes from the image (影像) produced by the overhead projector. In Indian schools,we didn't use the technology we had.We had to take notes as the teacher spoke.
Since it was my first day,I was confused which hallway to use,but I managed to get to my classes without asking anyone,I wasn't quite sure when I would have lunch. When the lunch bell rang,I headed for the cafe.I felt lucky because we didn't have this in India.Every confusion seemed like an obstacle (障礙) I had to get through to reach my goal.At the end of the day,I got on my bus and sat down inside happily.I was thinking, today wasn't so bad.
As time passed that year,I developed some friendships and started to love my school. The teachers had a fun way of making hard things so easy that a three-year-old could do them.In India the teachers had a more strict way of saying things. We also had much longer school days in India-7 a.m.to 5:30 p.m.-while in America school was 7:30 to 2:30.The main difference I found in America is the amount I learned each day.Because of these educational opportunities I feel I am the luckiest person in the whole world.
