Are you in a bad mood? Don’t worry! According to a new Australian study, a bad mood can actually be good for you. The study showed that being sad could help people to judge others more correctly and was also good for the memory.
The study was carried out by Professor Joseph Forgas at the University of New South Wales.“People in a bad mood paid more attention to the people and things around them than happy people .Happy people were more likely to believe anything they were told,”said Forgas
For the study, Forgas and his team did a lot of experiments. During the experiments, they made the participants(參加者) feel happy or sad by watching films and thinking about good or bad things of the past.
In one of the experiments, happy and sad participants were asked to judge whether some wrong things were true or not. The results showed that people in a bad mood were less likely to believe that these things were true.
People in a bad mood were also less likely to make mistakes when they were asked to remember the things that they saw.
The study also showed that sad people were better at talking about their thoughts in written style. In fact, the study said that a slightly bad mood could help to make communication more successful.

Hello again. We’re on holiday! My family won a prize – tickets for a round-world-trip on the Freedom of the Seas! Can you believe it? This is one of the biggest cruise(巡游)ships in the world – it‘s huge! It’s as long as 37 buses and can carry more than 4,000 passengers. That’s a lot of people! You know that I like to be very active, so at first I thought this cruise was going to be a little boring … I was so wrong! The ship has an ice-skating rink, an outdoor climbing wall (more than 13 meters high), two swimming pools, a water park and even a boxing ring. But best of all … the Flowrider! It’s a surfing attraction at the top of the ship. I tried it yesterday but I kept falling! I must try again this afternoon. Mom and Dad were also pretty impressed(印象)by the shopping mall on the ship. You’ve really got to see this fantastic ship – it’s truly spectacular(壯觀). I’ll write again when I get home (Sunday) and tell you more about the cruise. Bye!

It’s something familiar to all parents of young children: you’re in a busy shopping street and your child wants to pee (小便) and he just can’t hold it any longer. But two parents’ decision to let their child relieve (釋放) himself has caused much attention in China.
By now, it seems, the whole Chinese Internet is familiar with what happened on a crowded Hong Kong shopping street. A mother holds a nappy (尿布) while her two-year-old pees. A passerby took pictures which then were put online. The woman explained that they had found a public toilet (廁所) but saw there was a long queue, so she had no other choice but to let their child to relieve himself on the street instead.
Why has this one child’s act caused so much upset? Allowing a child under 12 to “answer the call of nature in any public street” is against the law in Hong Kong and the parents will face a 2,000 Hong Kong Dollar ($250) fine (罰款). But the on-line chatter has put all the attention on the fact that this family were tourists from mainland China, rather than being locals. “For Hong Kongers, people might think from time to time that mainlanders are not so polite and often break the public rules,” says Martin Yip of BBC. Charmaine Chui, who was born in Hong Kong, told BBC she feels angry to have seen mainland tourists peeing in shopping centers and restaurants. “Hong Kong is a beautiful, modern city. What do these people think of it?” she says.
In mainland China, there has also been criticism of the parents’ behavior. But most of the people say they find the parents’ behavior understandable as they had tried to find a toilet for their child and the mother used a paper nappy rather than simply allowing the baby to pee on the ground.

A.A policeman took photos of the 2-year-old child and put them online.

Some people believe that classes, teachers and school buildings will no longer be necessary in the near future because of the Internet and other new technology. Perhaps this will be true one day, but if the world has no schools, I can't imagine how our society will be. In fact, we should learn how to use new technology to make schools better. We should invent a new kind of school connected to libraries, museums, science centers, labs and even companies. Technological companies should create learning programs for schools. Scientists could give talks through the Internet. TV networks and local stations could develop programs about things students are studying in school. Labs could set up websites to show new technology, so students could see it on the Internet.
Is this a dream? No. There have been many cities where this is beginning to happen. Here the whole city is connected to the Internet, and learning can take place at home, at school, and in the office. Businessesprovide programs for the schools and the society. The schools provide computer labs for people without their own computers at home. Because everyone can go on the Internet, older people use it as much as younger ones, and everyone can visit faraway libraries and museums as easily as nearby ones. How will this new thing of school change the usual way of learning? It is a little early to be sure, but it is very exciting to think about it. Technology will change the way we learn; schools will change as well; and we will learn something from the Internet.

What is the strongest part of your body? Your head? Bones? It’s your teeth! There is a special thing called enamel (牙釉質(zhì)) in teeth. It is the hardest thing in the human body and keeps bacteria (細(xì)菌) away. However, teeth are vulnerable (易受傷害的) to problems and disease. September 20 is National Teeth-loving Day in China. Let’s pay attention to the health of our teeth.
Tooth     (1)   are    (1)   around the world. Most children and young adults have tooth decay (齲齒). A study published on China Health Monthly magazine this year showed that 40.74 percent of a sample (抽樣) of 1,306 Chinese students under age 15 had decayed teeth.
(2)Food that is rich in sugar increases the risk of tooth decay. After you eat, bacteria go crazy over the sugar on your teeth, like ants at a picnic. The bacteria turn sugar into acids (酸) that eat away at tooth enamel. This cause holes in your teeth.
Another common problem is crooked teeth (齙牙). When your new teeth begin to grow and the old teeth haven’t fallen out, there isn’t enough space for the new ones. This causes crooked teeth.
Don’t worry. Here are some ways to keep your teeth healthy.
Brush at least twice a day – in the morning and before bedtime.
Learn to use dental floss (牙線). The floss gets rid of food that’s hidden where your toothbrush can’t get it.
Visit a dentist. He or she can check if you have any dental problems and help you clean your teeth.
Pay attention to what you eat. It is better to eat lots of fruits and vegetables instead of fries and drink water instead of soda.
Wear braces (牙套) to make your teeth straight and beautiful.
