      One of my patients,a successful businessman,tells me that before he fell ill he wasn’t happy. Happiness was “having the cookie”. Only if you had the cookie? things could be good.

      Unluckily,the cookie kept changing. Sometimes,it was money,sometimes it was power,sometimes,it was something fantastic.

      A year and a half after his diagnosis (診斷) of cancer (癌癥) ,he sits in my office shaking his head. “It’s like I stopped learning how to live after I was a kid.       My patient laughs and says cancer has changed him. For the first time he is happy.
