Adding to the madness of the 2016 US presidential election is American lawyer(律師) Andrew Basiago. He says he has traveled through time nearly all his life, and is pretty sure that he’s going to become “either president or vice(副) president” between 2016 and 2028. Polling data(民意測評) is obviously useless to this guy.
Basiago’s greatest qualification(條件) to hold office, of course, is his first-hand information of past and future events. Basiago claims to have gone back in time to 1863 and witnessed Abraham Lincoln’s speech at Gettysburg. He’s also been to the future — the year 2054 — so he has an idea of the pitfalls(缺陷) that a president should be avoiding. Having traveled widely in time, Basiago has held conversations with President Bush, President Clinton, and President Obama decades before they were elected to office, telling them in advance of their presidencies. More importantly, he has been to Mars in 1981, which makes for rich experience in foreign relations.
1.What is Andrew Basiago sure to become between 2016 and 2028?
___________________________________________________________
2.What is almost useless to Basiago in his eyes?

3.What did Basiago witness when he went back in time to 1863?

5.How do you like traveling through time and space?(請自擬一句話作答)

If you lose 12 times in a row (連續(xù)地), will you just give up? Dale Carnegie, a pioneer in public speaking and self-development, kept trying. And he became famous by showing people how to be successful.
Carnegie was born into a poor family in the United States. The boy didn’t see a train until he was 12 years old. In his teens, he had to get up at 3 am every day to milk cows for his family.
When Carnegie first entered college, he felt upset because of his worn-out clothes and common looks. His mother encouraged him, “Why not try to be better in other things instead of just dress and good looks?”
Carnegie tried to be more active in college. He joined the debate (辯論) team. But one after another, he lost 12 competitions. The young man was very disappointed with himself. He said later that he thought of killing himself after failing so many times. But soon Carnegie was seen practicing public speaking on the riverside. His hard work paid off at last. In 1906, Carnegie won a famous speech contest and became famous. “Believe that you will succeed, and you will,” he said.
In order to share his success, Carnegie opened schools and wrote books. His best-sellers include How to Win Friends and Influence People and How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. More than 50 million copies of his books have been translated into 38 languages. They are still helping people on the road to success.

Want to save the environment? You probably can’t fix everything on your own, but by taking small steps and keeping the environment in mind every day, you can make a difference.
Think Green. Challenge yourself to think about the environment as you live your life. If you shut off lights when you leave the room, turn off your TV when you’re not watching it, you’ll save energy. If you take shorter showers, you’ll save water.
Shop Green. Shopping is fun, but buying things you don’t need is wasteful and bad for the earth. Before you buy something, ask yourself how much you’ll really use it. Keep yourself away from buying products with unnecessary packaging (包裝), and whenever possible, buy things that were locally made instead of those shipped from far away.
Dress Green. Wear green trousers and T-shirts if you want. But what really matters isn’t the colour, it’s how the clothes were made. If you want to help the environment, the best place to find clothes is at a vintage store, but you might not want to buy everything used. No matter where you shop, keep an eye out for products made from environmentally friendly materials like organic (有機的) cotton, which is grown without the use of pesticides (殺蟲劑).
Study Green. What’s better than learning about the environment? Save it while you learn. It can be as simple as using both sides of a piece of paper before you recycle it, or reusing an old textbook instead of buying a new one. If you want to do more, join an environmental group at your school, and encourage your friends to join, too.
