“Our happiness is coming back. I can’t help licking (舔) my lips,” one Sina Weibo user wrote after hearing that street food stalls (路邊小吃攤) are returning to the streets in many Chinese cities.
On June 4, the central government of China called for a comeback of street stalls. According to Premier Li Keqiang, street stalls are part of China’s economic recovery (復(fù)蘇) plan, CGTN reported. Their return is expected to help increase people’s incomes and boost local economies that were hit hard by the novel coronavirus outbreak.
“Street stalls and small shops, just like bigger and high-end (高端的) industries, are important sources of jobs and important to the country’s economy,” Li said while chatting with a man selling malaban, a street snack, in Yantai on June 1.
In recent years, many cities around the country banned (禁止) street stalls in order to keep cities clean and prevent traffic jams. Experts have called for greater guidance (引導(dǎo)) to make street stalls more orderly this time, China Daily reported.
Although Beijing’s government said street stalls are “not suitable” for the capital, many other cities have already rolled out policies to support street stalls, including Nanjing, Changchun and Chengdu. They will be managed in a more efficient (有效率的) way.
For example, in Changchun, food stalls can be opened in certain areas in parks, public squares and empty spaces as long as they don’t interrupt (擾亂) traffic or disturb their neighbors. They also have to pass environmental protection assessments (評(píng)估). People are also being allowed to set up temporary (臨時(shí)的) roadside businesses, but they must do business in an orderly manner, The Paper reported.
1.When did the central government of China call for a comeback of street stalls?
2.What is the purpose of a comeback of street stalls?
3.How many cities are mentioned in the passage?
4.Who did Premier Li chat with in Yantai ?

Cats are often considered lazy. They love napping( 打 盹 ) on their own comfortable beds. However, as Gary the cat shows us, some kittens also love adventure.
Gary is a five-year-old long-haired cat. He goes on camping trips in the Rockies(落基山脈) with his owners every weekend. The cat has his own social media page. He can often be seen exploring snowy peaks( 高 峰 ) in a warm jacket. The cat also enjoys taking pictures with his dog brothers.
James Eastham is Gary’s “dad” and his social media manager. Eastham met Gary when the cat was about two years old. It turned out that Gary was born with an interest in exploring the great outdoors. He would manage to escape from Eastham’s apartment several times every month. Eastham and his wife then started to take Gary out for walks.
Shortly after that, the Easthams moved to the mountains. Slowly, Gary went on bigger and bigger adventures. He started with the family’s yard and then parks. As Gary became more comfortable outside, his owners took him on trips to more distant(遙遠(yuǎn)的) places and for longer periods of time. Eventually, Gary was ready for the mountains and all the fun outdoor activities. This past winter, Gary even tried skiing for the first time.
When he is tired, Gary will just “hitch a ride( 搭便車)” on his owners.“These days, he prefers to ride on my shoulders instead of in his pack,” said Eastham.
According to Eastham, outdoor adventures seem to have been good for Gary. The cat used to be shy. Now, he has become much more confident around strangers. “He has even gotten friendlier,” said Eastham.
Gary has become one of the most famous cats on the internet. However, it seems the fame hasn’t gone to his head. “Gary is still a cat,” said Eastham. “It mostly only cares about having enough treats(美餐) every day.”
