Jimmy looked at the calendar (日歷).  He was not happy and hit (打) the calendar. 

“What are you doing?” asked his sister Susan. 

“I’m looking at the calendar.” 

“I see that, but why are you hitting it?” 

“I don’t want to go back to school tomorrow,” he said. “I don’t want to get up early, do homework every night, or sit in a classroom for hours.” 

“So what do you want to do? Do you want to live under a bridge?” asked Susan. 

Jimmy said, “No, I could be a soccer star or a good actor.” 

“Good luck at the age of eleven. Most sports stars and actors work hard for years, and most of them are educated (受過(guò)教育的). I don’t really think you play soccer well, and you aren’t handsome, either,” said Susan. 

“That’s not nice!” shouted Jimmy. 

“I’m sorry, but a little honesty (誠(chéng)實(shí)) could help sometimes. And homework gets you out of housework. Dad doesn’t make us do much housework when we have homework. ” 

“True.” 

“And TV is fun when you only have time for a little of it. Sitting in front of it for hours is boring,” said Susan.  

“Also true,” said Jimmy. 

“And all of our friends are at school,” said Susan. 

“All right, I get it. School isn’t all bad,” said Jimmy. 

Friends, delicious school lunch, less housework . . .  then Jimmy began to like school.
