5.Children can spend hours a day looking at computer screens and other digital devices.Some eye doctors say this leads to an increase in"computer vision syndrome(電腦視力綜合癥)."
Nathan Bonilla-Warford is an optometrist(驗光師)in Tampa,F(xiàn)lorida.He has seen an increase in problems in children."A lot more children come into the office either because their parents have noticed that they have headaches or red or watery eyes or discomfort,or because their nearsightedness appears to be increasing and they're worried,"he says.
Dr.Bonilla-Warford says part of the problem is that children may be more likely to pay no attention to early warning signs than adults."Even if their eyes start to feel uncomfortable or they start to get a headache,they're less likely to tell their parents,because they don't want to have the game or the computer or whatever taken away,"he explains.
He says another part of the problem is that people blink(眨眼)less often when they use digital devices.He says,"A person who uses an electronic device blinks about one third as much as we normally do in everyday life.And so that can result in the front part of the eye drying and not staying protected like normal."
Eye doctors offer suggestions like following which is known as the 20/20/20rule.That means every twenty minutes look away twenty feet or more for at least twenty seconds from whatever device you're using.
Other suggestions include putting more distance between you and the device and using good lighting.Of course,another way is to spend less time looking at screens.Many experts say children should spend no more than two hours a day using digital devices-with no screen time for children under two.
But not all eye doctors have noticed an increase in problems in children.Dr.David Hunter,from Children's Hospital Boston,has not seen an increase in his practice."While it is possible to develop fatigue looking at screens for a long period of time, there's certainly no proof that it actually causes any damage(傷害)to the eyes"he says.
67.Which of the following is true according to the passage?B
A.Dr.Bonilla-Warford thinks using computers causes nearsightedness.
B.People keep their eyes protected against drying by blinking normally.
C.Children under two can watch TV for less than two hours a day.
D.Dr.David Hunter says headache causes an increase in eye problems.
68.What does the underlined word"fatigue"mean?
A.Interest
B.Ability
C.Tiredness.

Even friends may never exchange presents. When I go to foreign countries,I try to bring back little things for close friends,but nobody would feel unhappy if I didn't.I don't often remember a friend's birthday,and few people outside of my family remember mine.If someone gave me presents too often,I'd get unpleasant.But a present from a foreigner-that kind from his or her homeland-won't go wrong,except to government employees (政府職員) who can't accept presents.
You usually open a present at once and in front of the person who gives it except Christmas and birthday presents.You should only say,‘It's so nice.Thanks…'when you get Christmas or birthday presents.
When you go to a dinner party you may want to bring a bottle of wine (葡萄酒) or flowers.Nobody will mind if you bring wine,but your friend may not use it that evening.
At Christmas we often give presents to our family and sometimes our friends.We also give presents to people who have been helpful during the year like doormen,babysitters,housecleaners,newspaper senders-anyone who has often helped us.

13.A new study shows students who write notes by hand during lessons perform better on exams than those who use laptops(筆記本電腦).
Students are increasingly using laptops for note-taking because of speed and legibility(清晰度).But the research has found laptop users are less able to remember and use what they have been taught.
Researchers performed experiments to find out whether using a laptop increased the tendency (趨勢)to make notes"mindlessly"by taking down word for word what the teachers said
In the first experiment,students were given either a laptop or pen and paper.They listened to the same lesson and were told to use their usual note-taking skills.Thirty minutes after the talk,they were examined on their ability to remember facts and on how well they understood what the teacher taught.
The researchers found that laptop users took twice as many notes as those who wrote by hand.However,the laptop users performed worse at remembering and using the ideas.Both groups scored similarly when it came to memorizing facts.
The researchers'report said,"While more notes are beneficial(有益的),if the notes are taken mindlessly,as is more likely the case on a laptop, the benefit disappears."
In another experiment was done to test long-term memory,students took notes as before but were tested a week after the lesson.This time,the students who wrote notes by hand performed much better on the exam.
These two experiments suggest that handwritten notes are not only better for immediate(即時) learning and understanding, but that they also lead to better revision in the future.
50.More and more students prefer to use laptops for note-taking because they canD.
