Nancy would like to take part in a fancy-dress party (化妝舞會). She had to go to the party with her friends because her husband has been to another city to go on a business trip. Later that night, she was busy in dressing up herself as a ghost, including putting on masks and some special costumes.

After finishing it, she went downstairs to look at herself in the mirror. Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door. She knew that it must be the baker (面包師). She had told him to come straight in if ever she failed to open the door and to leave the bread on the kitchen table. Not wanting to frighten (使驚嚇) the poor man, Nancy quickly hid in the storeroom under the stairs.

To her surprise, it was her husband who changed his plan and came back home 2 days earlier. The husband called his wife’s name happily and looked for her all around. Nancy was so excited that she ran to her husband without realizing she was a ghost at that moment. But it was too late. Her husband let out a cry and jumped back several steps. Then he lost his sense and lay on the ground.

It is often said that the best time in the life of anyone is the time that he spends in school. And the best time of my life came to an end on the 5th of February ,which was my last day at school.

Since it was the day to leave my friends, classmates and teachers, the farewell party(告別會)was heart-breaking. It was time to leave my dear school, where I had spent ten years of my life.

The farewell party took place in the big hall. This was the first time that I hadn’t worn my school uniform in the past twelve years. Though sad, I felt great.

In the beginning, there was the ceremony (儀式)of lighting the lamp (燈). It was lit by the headmaster of our school. This was followed by the students of the 12th class lighting their candles from the big lamp. Then came the students of the 11th class, hosting the party. It included delicious food and drinks. After the party, there was a program of entertainment. Some students sang songs and some danced.

Along with the programs, some of the students collected autographs (簽名) of their favorite teachers.

The headmaster and teachers gave speeches in English and Hindi(印度語). Finally, they all wished us great success, not only in the examination, but in life, too.

Then we had our photograph taken together, this continued until it was time for the party to stop. And, by and by, all of us returned home with a sad heart and a lot of memories of our school years.
