In the film, based on a short story by Chinese sci-fi 2 Liu Cixin, Earth is in 3 of being destroyed by the dying sun. In response, humans around the world work together to build a large engine system that will push Earth away from the sun. Instead of abandoning Earth – again – this time we’re taking it with us. The makers of The Wandering Earth may have chosen the best time to tell its Chinese sci-fi story. The film was released on Feb 5, the 4 day of Chinese New Year. 【題目】任務(wù)型閱讀 閱讀下列短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容完成表格,每空一詞。

Mobile phone history

Not long ago, mobile phones were used mainly by business people and government officers in society. In the US, mobile phone users were about 340, 000 in 1985. Now there are 205 million mobile phone users in the US. Studies also show that over 50 percent of children in the US own their own personal mobile phones. The mobile phone explosion(激增) has led to a huge number of waste phones. The number of mobile phones users has also increased throughout the world. In the middle of 2005, the number of total users jumped to 2.4 billion worldwide.

Mobile phone waste

When people throw their mobile phones away, they usually end up in the open air. Mobile phones include some materials like lead, mercury and cadmium. They can go into public drinking water and food and do harm to people’s health. About 75 percent of mobile phone users don’t throw their phones away. Instead, they prefer to keep the waste ones sitting around the house as they are not worth very much. People are also afraid that others may know their information if they sell their waste phones. Less than 20 percent of them are recycled each year.

Benefits(益處) of recycling mobile phones

Mobile phones have valuable materials inside. The most valuable material is gold, which is used in the phone circuit boards. Recycling can reduce greenhouse gas emissions (排放物) and keep natural resources like gold. If all of the waste phones in the US are recycled, it will save enough energy to offer over 194, 000 U.S. families electricity(電力) for one year.

How mobile phone recycling works

Many people do not know how mobile phone recycling works. One method of recycling mobile phones is to take the working parts of broken phones, then combine(使結(jié)合) them with the working parts of other used mobile phones to make one ready-to-use mobile phone. 【題目】We all know that lying (說謊) is wrong. But do you know that it is bad for both your physical and mental health? A recent study shows that telling fewer lies helps people physically and mentally.

“For ten weeks, 110 people aged from 18 to 71 were tested to see the relationship between the number of lies they told and their health,” said Anita Kelly, a professor at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. “When they lied more, their health declined,” said Kelly.

Researchers divided the people into two groups. Group A was told to avoid telling any lie for any reason to anyone. They may omit (忽略) the truth, refuse to answer questions, and keep secrets, but they can’t say anything that they know are not true. Group B was not told anything like this.

Over the study period, when people in Group A told fewer lies in a week than they did in other weeks, they experienced fewer health problems such as sore throats and headaches. Professor Linda Stroh said, “When you find that you don’t lie, you have less stress (壓力).” The results of past research show that each American tells about 11 lies a week. In both groups, when people lied less during a week, they reported better physical and mental health during that period.

“It’s certainly a good thing to have people be more honest,” said Robert Feldman of the University of Massachusetts. “It may improve our mental health, but I don’t think it can improve our physical health.”
