Do you have sleeping problems? Is it hard for you to remember or pay attention in class? Do you easily get angry? If your answer is yes, you may be under stress.
Stress is a normal physical response (反應(yīng)) to things that make people feel worried. In China, 70 percent of the 2,000 students about to take the college or high school entrance examination are under high stress, according to a recent survey by Wuhan University of Hubei province.
Sometimes stress is good for people. It pushes people to do their best, like while getting ready before a big competition or exam. However, too much or long-term stress makes people feel a stress overload (負(fù)荷過多), and affects people’s health.
When you feel stressed, there are some ways you can deal with (處理) it. Learning to solve small problems in everyday life is helpful. It can help build confidence to move on to life’s bigger ones. Try saying positive things to yourself, like “I will do the best that I can,” or “I can manage this if I take one step at a time.” That encourages you to work toward your goal. It is also important to relax sometimes.
But if you are under high stress and can’t handle it by yourself, it is also good to ask parents or friends for help. Everyone has stress. Don’t be too shy to tell others that you are having a hard time. They may comfort you or give you some useful advice. You may feel better just from sharing your problems with them.

3.In what way is stress good for people?

C. it pushes people to do their best.
4.How many ways of dealing with stress are discussed in the passage?

I went hiking to a mountain with my friends last summer. It was a good trip at the beginning but something unexpected happened on the half way.
One of my friends, Mike, suddenly felt a terrible pain in his stomach and he couldn’t move any further. Nobody knew what to do. One girl tried to call her mum with her mobile phone but there was no signal in the mountain area. Luckily I brought medicine with me. After Mike took some, he felt much better. You may know the English letters A, B and C. But do you know there are people called ABCs? Do you know there is such a thing as “a banana person”? How strange! ABC means American-born Chinese. An ABC is a Chinese, but was born in the United States. Sometimes, people call an ABC a “banana person”. A banana is yellow outside. So, when a person is a “banana”, he or she is white inside—thinking like a Westerner and yellow outside—looking like a Chinese.
Usually, ABCs know little about China or the Chinese language. Some of them don’t speak Chinese. But if ABCs cannot speak Chinese, can we still call them Chinese people? Yes, of course. They are overseas (海外的) Chinese. These people may be citizens (公民) of another country like the US, Canada or Singapore. But they have Chinese blood. Their parents, grandparents or even great-grandparents were from China. They all have black eyes and black hair.
But they are not Chinese citizens. They are people of the People’s Republic of China. For example, we all know the famous scientist C. N. Yang (楊振寧) . He got the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1957. Chinese people love him. But he is an American citizen.
1.“ABCs” in this passage means .
A. three English letters
B. a kind of banana
C. Chinese born in America
D. Americans born in China
2.Chinese in Western countries are called “banana persons” because .
A. their bodies are white inside but yellow outside
B. they think like Westerners but look like Chinese
C. they were born in China but go to study in America
D. they like to eat bananas
3.Which of the sentences is WRONG about ABCs?
A. ABCs may know little about China.
B. They are overseas Chinese.
C. They may speak little Chinese.
D. They are Chinese citizens.
