【題目】閱讀下列短文,根據(jù)短文內容完成表格,每空限填一詞。

Now telephone, television, radio and the Internet all help people communicate with each other. As a result, ideas and news of events spread quickly all over the world. For example, within seconds, people can know who wins the vote in another country. An international football match comes into the homes of everyone with a TV set. When an earthquake or a flood happens in some places, news of these disasters can bring help from distant countries within hours. Help is on the way. Because of modern technology like the satellites (人造衛(wèi)星) that travel around the world, information travels fast.

How has this speed of communication changed the world? To many people, the world has become smaller. Of course this does not mean that the world is really becoming smaller. It means that the world seems smaller. Two hundred years ago, communication between two countries took a long time. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it took six weeks for news from Europe to reach America. This time difference influenced people’s actions. For example, a fight, or a war in 1812 between England and the United States could have been avoided (避免). A peace agreement had already been signed (簽署). Peace was made in England, but the news of peace took six weeks to reach America. During these six weeks, the large and serious War of New Orleans was fought. Many people lost their lives after the peace agreement had been signed. In the past, communication took much more time than it does now.

With the help of modern technology, it’s much easier to get more information within a short time. Our lives are becoming faster and faster.

【題目】Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words(在短文的空格內填入適當?shù)脑~,使其內容通順,每空格限填一詞,首字母已給)

I don’t believe it! It’s 11p.m. and I’m still sitting here writing this article for the school magazine !I’ve had two weeks to write it and my teacher wants it tomorrow . She’s always c1 that I leave things to the last minute. Maybe she’s right. A month ago, I made up my mind to be more efficient this year and not to leave thing to the last minute. But I’ve failed. I’ve also been trying to get fitter for four weeks now. I’ve started going to the gym. I’ve taken up karate lessons and I’ve changed my diet. I’ve even been going to bed earlier. But I’m not feeling any fitter. I felt just a little u2. I miss my bad habits. Why is leading a better life so hard?

I’ve just read an article on a website and I’ve found out that it isn’t my fault! In fact, it isn’t anyone’s fault! It’s our brains. They’re programmed, therefore, it is difficult to break bad habits. There’s nothing we can do . Scientists have done experiments that show we use one part of our brain when we think about o3and another when we think about other people. However, when we think about the ‘future us’, we use the part of the brain that we usually use to think about other people. In other words, the brain sees the ‘future you’ as a different person to your ‘present you ’. And that’s why we don’t always find it easy to make sensible d4 in the future when we face difficulties.

But that’s not all. Scientists have also found out that it takes around ten weeks to form a good habit. For example , if I want to keep fit, it’s going to take me ten weeks to go to the gym and then it will become an automatic part of my life. That’s because ten weeks is the amount of time the brain needs to change and a5new ways of behavior as a part of everyday life. The good news is that once you make it to ten weeks, everything becomes much easier. The bad news is that ten weeks is a really long time, so it’s easy to give up on (打消)your good plan s6

So there you are. Maybe we want to change our ways and become better people but our brains won’t let us . or is this just an e7? Look! I’ve finished my article on time. Anything is possible!

In fact, even stalls((1)in food centers have already started offering cashless payments by using mobile wallets, which have become an increasingly popular e-payment choice. Before paying, you need to download an app first .Next, link your credit or debit card to the electronic wallet function. Then e-payment is usually made by scanning a unique code to the merchants and then keying in the payment amount when you pay the bill.

Since a cashless age is about to arrive,it's time to learn about some of the e-payment choices beforehand.

【題目】 In many businesses, computers have largely replaced paperwork, because they are fast, flexible, and do not make mistakes. As one banker said, “Unlike humans, computers never have a bad day.” And they are honest. Many banks advertise that their transactions are untouched by human hands “and therefore safe from human temptation.” Clearly, computers have no reason to steal money. But they also have noconscience, and the growing number of computer crimes shows they can be used to steal.

Computer criminals don’t use guns. And even if they are caught, it is hard to punish them because there are no witness and often no evidence. A computer cannot remember who used it; it simply does what it is told. The head teller at a New York City bank used a computer to steal more than one and a half billion dollars in just four years. No one noticed this theft because he moved the money from one account to another. Each time a customer he had robbed questioned the balance in his account, the teller claimed a computer error, then replaced the missing money from someone else’s account. This man was caught only because he was a gambler. When the police broke up an illegal gambling operation, his name was in the records.

Some employees use the computer’s power to get revenge on employers they consider unfair. Recently, a large insurance company fired its computer-tape librarian for reasons that involved her personal rather her professional life. She was giventhirty day’s notice. Inthose thirty days, she erased all the company’s computerized records.

Most computer criminals have been minor employees. Now police wonder if this is “the tip of the iceberg.” As one official says, “I have a feeling that there is more crime out there than we are catching. What we are seeing now is also poorly done. I wonder what the real experts are doing---- the one who really knows how a computer works.”

1What does the underlined wordmean in Chinesein the first paragraph?

A.能力.B.信心.C.可能.D.良心

2Which feature of computers makes computer theft possible?

A.They are fast, flexible and accurateB.They usually “feels good”

C.They have no conscienceD.They are honest.

3A certain head teller at a New York City bank was exposed only when_______.

A.his name was found in illegal gambling records

B.he was replacing the missing money from someone else’s account

C.a customer questioned the balance in his account

D.the police broke up an illegal gambling operation

4According to the passage, which of the following might explain the reasons for some other computer crimes?

A.Personal jealousyB.Revenge

C.ProfessionalD.Thirty days’ notice

5What conclusion can a reader draw from the passage________.

A.Computer criminals are minor employees

B.Of all crime, computer theft is but the tip of the Iceberg

C.Computer crimes are all so poorly done

D.There is more computer crime out there committed by real experts
