Imagine sailing to over twenty different ports(港口)around the world while you are studying subjects you love! Impossible? Well, that is what the students in Class Afloat do.

Class Afloat is a Canadian school on a tall ship! The ship is sixty-four metres long and nine metres wide and it can take up to sixty students. The classrooms are well-equipped(設(shè)備精良)and comfortable and there's even a library! There is no need to know anything about sailing-students can learn on the ship.

Not all the students are Canadian-there's usually a mix of nationalities(國(guó)籍).This year, there are also students from Mexico, the USA, Germany and Turkey. There's a mix of ages too. There are secondary school students-first year university students and students who are doing a gap year(休學(xué)年)programme.

The teachers design special study programmes for each student. Because the school is a ship, you can do some exciting courses-for example, Marine Biology(studying the animals and plants in the sea) and History or Geography courses about the places you visit. Students also learn all about sailing! All the classes are in English, so you must have a good level of English.

Students don't just study. They must also clean, cook and sail the ship, in their free time, students can rest, read or watch a film. In the evenings, they relax with friends, have club meetings and sometimes they have a karaoke night.

Every sixteen to twenty days, the ship stops in a port for three to six days. In port there're lots to do-home stays, camping trips, museum tours, cultural events, hiking, etc. They also go snorkeling and do other water sports. Parents can meet up with the students in one port every term.

Students also take part in two volunteer programmes in Senegal(塞內(nèi)加爾)and the Dominican Republic(多明尼加共和國(guó)). They help local families in different ways, for example, with basic health matters or starting a business. Students learn how, with just a little money and time, they can make changes that improve other people's lives.

1.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

A. Students don't have to know how to sail before they join the ship.

B. Besides studying, students also have to do jobs on the ship.

C. Students have to speak English well in order to have classes on the ship.

Procrastination is something that many people have experienced at some point in their life. The word comes from the Latin words “pro” meaning“for”and“cras”meaning “tomorrow”. But it can be more than just putting off work or a later time; it can be about giving up long-term goals for short-term desires(欲望).

A new phrase has been going around Chinese social media lately, with people describing themselves as “active losers”. It means that they set themselves many goals, but they always find excuses, and never really achieve them. In fact, they are just acing serious procrastination.

I once knew someone in my college who had to drop out (退學(xué)) because he preferred video games to study. He went to all his classes and was an active member of school clubs. However, his mind was never really on task. He spent all his free time playing games and believed he could still achieve good grades by "finishing the work tomorrow. That “tomorrow”was the end of the semester, and my college had to ask him to “take a break”.

For those of you who think: “ I'll never procrastinate that badly,” I ask you this: “When did you last set a fitness goal? A weight goal? A reading goal? How many years has it been?”Although a fitness goal may not be so important as school grades, it does not mean the goal should drag on for years. So stop making excuses for yourself; take actions right now and achieve your goals.

1.The underlined word “procrastination” means _____in Chinese.

A. 妄想癥 B. 拖延癥 C. 強(qiáng)迫癥 D. 多動(dòng)癥

2.We can infer from the second paragraph that active losers are lack of (缺乏) ____.

A. long-term goals B. short-term desires

C. proper excuses D. their self-control

3.The main idea of Paragraph 3 is ____.

A. how the student achieved good grades

B. how procrastination affected the student's life

C. how the student fought against procrastination

D. how the student became an active member of school clubs

4.The writer advises us to ____.

A. take a break B. achieve good school grades

C. set a fitness goal D. start working towards our goals

5.The writer thinks that_____.

A. active losers never procrastinate

B. there is no way to control procrastination

C. some people don't realize that they procrastinate

D. it's wrong to ask the student in his college to drop out
