I was in my parked car, holding a book and reading. Once in a while I looked up, watching the people passing by. When I raised my    35   again, I saw an old lady with a large bag walking slowly towards my car. The bag seemed not only to make her steps    36  , but also make her out of breath. She looked tired and I thought she must be more than 70 years old.
She stopped and put a hand out to rest    37   it, gently (輕柔地,徐緩地) closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Was there a way I could do something? I tried to keep my body still while my mind    38   for answers. However, because of my careless head movement, she noticed me, and she    39  moved her hand away from the car. I picked up a bottle of water at once, gently opened the door and offered the bottle to her. She    40   me, and then shook her head and walked away.
I was so    41   with myself. I should have been more careful not to move. Instead of    42   a hand, I had interrupted (打擾,中斷) the old lady’s    43   moment of rest. I was feeling blue. Just at that moment, I saw the lady coming back again. I opened the door and patted (輕拍) the    44   next to me. She sat down, opened her bag and offered me a banana. I took it and offered her the bottle of water again. She took it.
I ate, she drank and we smiled. She    45   for a couple of minutes. Those minutes brought such quietness to me. Then she took my head in both her hands, made a small kissing    46   in the air, opened the car door and walked away.
I was trying to help someone in distress (困苦,苦惱). In turn, I became distressed and she took away my distress and replaced it with quietness.

“I hate school, and I’m not going back!”Have you ever had that thought?
Lots of kids have had. Usually this feeling doesn’t last long. But what if you feel this way too much? If you are stressed out, you might have a hard time making decisions. In the morning, you can’t decide what to eat, what to wear, or what to take for lunch.    Sometimes it’s a problem with your classes and schoolwork. Maybe the work is too easy and you get bored. Or maybe the work is too hard, or you don’t feel as clever as the other kids. Reading may be difficult for you, but you are asked to do a lot of it. You may be getting farther and farther behind, and it may seem that you will never catch up with others. When you know why you don’t like school, you can start taking steps to make things better
It’s a good idea to talk to someone about your problems at school. Your mom, dad, friends, teachers, or even classmates will be able to help you.
Another good idea is to write down your feeling about school. For instance, keep a diary or just write in a notebook. It’s a great way to let out emotion that may be stuck inside you. And you don’t have to share(分享)what you have written with others.
The next time you find yourself disliking school, this will also help you:
Make a list of everything you dislike or enjoy—even there is only one thing. See what you can change on “don’t like” list. Could you find a way to show off your special interests and talents on what you like? Which activities could you try that would help you solve these “don’t like” problems? Focus on what you can change and you might be able to put the good feeling back in school!

Four years ago my sweet mom went to be with her Lord. She did it her way.
I got the call at work, and I headed home quickly. Mom and Dad lived on a small farm that they had owned since I was seven. I hated going there every weekend. There was nothing for a young girl to do but watch the one station on the old TV set, if the weather allowed reception(接收).
My mom, on the other hand, loved the peace and quiet of the land and loved to work in the garden among her flowers and vegetables. The place was simple, with no indoor plumbing or heat. We had a big wood stove in the kitchen that did its best to heat the little farmhouse, but it always seemed cold and too quiet to me.
In the evenings, my mom and I would sit for hours singing in the little kitchen. I sang the melody and Mom harmonized. Her favorite song was "Moon River" and we sang it over and over. Mom told me stories about how when I was a little girl, I could sing before I could talk. She loved to tell how my playpen(嬰兒圈欄)sat in the kitchen next to the radio and there was one song I particularly loved called "Ivory Tower".
As time passed, I had my own children and went to visit the farm every week or two. The kids loved the farm and the tractor rides with my dad. Me, well, I still hated the silence of the farm. While my mom loved to sit at her kitchen table and look out at her garden and flowers and retell all the old stories, I missed the hustle and bustle(喧鬧)of my life at home. But I sat there listening quietly as she reminisced.
Now, I sat back in the silence and the silence was deafening so I finally leaned over to turn on an old radio. Music always comforted me.
My heart skipped a beat. "Moon River" was playing on the radio. I sat there stunned, with a tear running down my cheek, as I listened to every familiar note.
Then the radio announcer of this oldie station came on. "Here's one we haven't heard in a while," and an unfamiliar song began. I began to cry harder as I heard the words sung over the airwaves. “Come down, come down from your Ivory Tower...”.
