What is the hottest word in China last year ? Baidu gave its list this month.“Shanzhai”（山寨）, a Chinese word, which today means “copying”, is top of the list.

It’s true that“shanzhai”is everywhere. There are“shanzhai”movies, songs, and TV programs. Some young people even tried to prepare for a“shanzhai”Spring Festival gala（春晚）, in which ordinary people would be invited to take part.“I want to ___①__ the‘shanzhai’gala on Spring Festival Eve ,”said 19-year-old Fan Xiaojie in Wuhan.“The performers can express themselves in a more creative and funnier way than those on CCTV.”

“‘shanzhai’is a way for young people to have their voices heard,”said Professor Gu Haibin. “The copying trend（趨勢）also encourages DIY（do it yourself）. The 2009 outbreak of influenza H1N1 virus（甲型流感病毒）is also called“swine flu（豬流感）”. It is a new flu virus that was first found in April, 2009.
