If you close yourself off to new people, who will be there during the toughest times of your life and create some of the best times of your life.

You will meet many people who will try to be better than you in school, in college, at work. They’ll try to have nicer cars, bigger houses, nicer clothes and so on. Here is a secret: Life is a journey. You don’t have to do better than your peers to be happy. Instead, learn to enjoy the journey. Make it a journey of happiness, of lifelong learning, of continual improvement, of love.

If there is a single word you should live your life by, it should be this: Love. It, I know, might sound boring, but trust me, there is no better rule in life. Some would live by the rule of success. Their lives will be stressful and unhappy. Others would live by the rule of selfishness. They will live lonely and unhappy lives. You should love your wife or husband, children, parents, friends, with all of your heart. Love not only your loved ones, but your neighbors, coworkers, strangers, even your enemies. And most of all, love yourself and learn to love yourself for who you are.

Finally, know that I love you and always will. You are starting out on a scary but wonderful journey. And I will be there for you when I can.

The first private detective---PI for private investigator in the USA---was probably Arson Lupin, a Frenchman. However, stories about this detective are not read nowadays. For most people the first, and perhaps the greatest, private detective, was the Englishman, Sherlock Holmes, a character created by the author Sir Author Conan Doyle. Crime fiction has been as popular in the USA as in the UK, and some of the most famous American writers have written detective fiction. The most highly regarded is probably Raymond Chandler whose PI, Phillip Marlowe, is the archetype (典型的) private detective. Also popular, although not so well-written, are the Perry Mason novels by Erle Stanley Gardner.

After Conan Doyle, the most widely read private detective novelist is the English novelist Agatha Christie. She created two unforgettable characters--- Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. Agatha Christie’s have also been translated into most languages.

Detective fiction is as popular today as it has ever been, probably because many novels have been adapted for television which introduced them to many people who do not usually read new detective crime fiction.

A weeklong party is not everyone, however, and a growing number of American university students have found a way to make spring break matter. For them, joining or leading a group of volunteers to help solve problems such as homelessness or pollution makes spring break a special learning experience that university students can feel good about.

While most university students have to get their degrees before they can start helping people, student volunteers are able to help people right now. But they only pay around $250 for meals and transportation, which is much less than some of their friends spend traveling to more traditional spring break hot places.

Spring break projects appear to be growing in popularity at universities across the United States. Some students take the opportunity to meet new friends. Whatever their reasons, these students have discovered something that give them rich rewards along with a break from school work.
