【題目】 The world will be extremely dull if everyone in the world is exactly alike. I believe it’s important to accept people for who they are. Differences are important and they should be respected. For example, many important people throughout history were considered different, such as Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln. They did great things but were thought they were strange because they had strong feelings about something. I can understand these people because I’ve been in that situation before many times.

I realized that I wasn’t like everyone else at a very young age. I have been crazy about certain subjects which don’t interest other kids of my age and even my teachers. In fact, my kindergarten teacher said she would scream if I mentioned snakes or lizards one more time while she was teaching the days of the week. I would get into trouble.

In the third grade, my teacher told me that I had something like Asperger(幼兒孤獨癥).

I said, “So what? Do you know that Godzilla’s suit weighs 188 pounds?”

Later, I asked my mom, “What’s Asperger? Am I going to die?” She said that I could only see one thing at a time and it was hard for me to focus on other things.

Kids make fun of me for the things I like, people also make fun of me for knowing facts about many scientific things like cyclone. My mom says that she has been able to answer many scientific questions just by listening to what I have to say, but I’ve even been laughed at for being smart.

Maybe someday I’ll become a gene(基因) engineer and create the real Godzilla. I can dream, can’t I? Sometimes I wish I were like everyone else ... but not really, for we are different in our own ways.

A.To explain their differencesB.To show his admiration

C.To make comparisonD.To support his idea

A.AngryB.LonelyC.SorryD.Curious

3What can Godzilla most probably be?

A.A special plant.B.A clever person.

【題目】 In a pudding store where a number of delicious things are laid out in a row during the Christmas season. Here you may choose the one which is most to your taste, you are even allowed to sample them before coming to a decision.

I have often wondered whether some people would take advantage of this free tastingwithout buying. One day I asked a shop girl this question, and I learned it was indeed the case. “One old gentleman, for example,” she told, “comes here every week and samples every pudding, though he never buys anything. I remember him from last year and the year before last.”

She was still speaking when an elderly gentleman limped up(瘸拐) in and began lookingclosely at the puddings with great interest. “That’s the gentleman I’m telling you about.” whispered the shop girl and then she turned to him, “Would you like to sample them, sir? Here’s a spoon for you.” The elderly gentleman, who was poorly but neatly dressed, accepted the spoon and began to sample one after another . “This is quite good”. “This is not bad either.” Among the crowd of happy Christmas shoppers, he seemed pitiful. I went up and saidwith great kindness, “Pardon me, sir, Let me buy you one pudding. It would give me suchpleasure.”

He jumped back with blood rushing into his face.

“Excuse me,” he said, “I don’t believe I have the pleasure of knowing you. Undoubtedly you have mistaken me for someone else.” And quickly he turned to the shop girl and said loudly, “Kindly pack me up this one.” He pointed at one of the most expensive puddings.

The girl started packing, while he pulled out a pocketbook and began counting outshillings and pennies. To save his “honor”, he had been forced into a buy which he could not possibly afford. 【題目】 Waste sorting is a major issue around the world. Different countries are using different methods to sort their trash.

UK: smart bin

A UK company has invented a "smart bin" to help with garbage sorting. People just need to drop their garbage into the bin. A camera and sensors(感應器) in the bin can tell what type of garbage it is and correctly sort it. The bin also compresses(壓縮) the waste so it takes up less space.

South Korea: food aside

South Korea is using a method called "Pay For Your Trash "to encourage its people to reduce food waste. When throwing away trash, people have to separate their food waste from their other waste and put it in a bin. The smart bin then weighs the food. People have to pay for their food waste by scanning (掃描) a bar code(條形碼) on the bin. The more they throw away, the more they pay.

Japan: careful sorting

Japan is leading the world in garbage sorting. They sort garbage so carefully that even plastic bottles and their caps(瓶蓋) go into different bins.

Different types of paper products also have their own bins -newspapers,magazines and cartons (紙板箱). There are also factories that make bags, clothes and dolls out of recycled waste.
