閱讀短文, 根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。

Lisa is ten years old. She is handicapped(殘疾的) because she has brain damage. She could not do even the simplest thing until a year ago. She could not comb(梳理) her hair or feed herself. Her parents loved her. And they treated her like a baby.

Mr. Ching has a daughter and a son. They are both grown. They live far from their father. Mr. Ching felt lonely. He decided to become a foster grandfather to a handicapped child. And that was how he met Lisa.

Foster grandparents are grandparents who are not related by birth but foster grandparents love the children they care for. They love them just as natural grandparents love their grandchildren.

The foster grandparents also help the handicapped children in special ways. They help to dress and feed the children. They read to them and tell them stories. They also help with handicapped children’s therapy(心理治療). Therapy is the treatment of a disease or disorder. It helps the children overcome their handicaps.

Mr. Ching became a foster grandparent to Lisa when she was nine years old. At first, Lisa was shy. She was afraid because Mr. Ching was a stranger. But he came to see her every day. Gradually she began to trust him.

At last Lisa let Mr. Ching do things for her. He came at lunchtime and fed her. One day he handed the spoon and guided it to her mouth. He told her she must learn to feed herself.

“Most of that lunch ended up on us instead of in Lisa’s mouth,” Mr. Ching remembers. “But it was a start for Lisa. She learned to feed herself in a few months.”

Then Lisa was ready for more therapy, thanks to Mr. Ching. She had learned to do one simple thing. She could learn to do other simple things. Mr. Ching was trainded to help with Lisa’s therapy.

To become foster grandparents, people must be at least sixty years old and in good health. They must be willing to give their time to handicapped children. They are volunteer, so they are not paid. They are given money for expenses such as transportation.

Mr. Ching speaks for most foster grandparents when he says, “We all benefit(受益). The handicapped children benefit because we help them live more useful lives. And we benefit because we know the children need us and love us. For any person, there’s no greater happiness than that!”

64. Is Lisa ten years old?

65. Why does Lisa need help?

66. How did Lisa first feel toward Mr. Ching?

67. What things do foster grandparents help handicapped children do?

68. What do you think of Mr. Ching?

Height is just one of the thousands of features your genes decide. In fact, because you have two parents, your genes provide you a height that usually lands somewhere between the height of each parent. If both your parents are tall, then most probably you will be tall, too, but if you have questions about how tall you’re going to be, ask your doctor if he or she can help you find it out.

But genes don’t decided everything. For example, eating an unhealthy diet can keep you from growing to your full potential(潛力). Getting plenty of sleep and enough exercise will help you grow to the expected height.

No doubt(懷疑) you’re wondering how fast you should grow. It depends. There’s no perfect or right answer. Generally speaking, kids grow about 2 inches (6 centimeters) a year between age 3 and the time when they start puberty.

Your doctor will know how your growth has been going over the years. Two centimeters here and 2 inches there are not nearly as important as the height you’re at now, how you’ve been growing up to this point, and what other changes your body may be going through.

Don’t be scared if you seem to have grown a lot in a very short time. Everyone has a growth spurt(高峰) during puberty. The age for starting puberty is about 10 for girls and about 11 for boys. But it can be earlier or later—between 7 and 13 for girls and 9 and 15 for boys.

You’ll usually begin to notice that you’re growing faster about a year or so after your body starts to show the first changes of puberty.

56. The underlined word “puberty” means________.

A. when your body starts changing and becoming more grown up

B. when your body starts growing

C. when your body grows slowly

D. when your body stops growing

57. Which is NOT mentioned in the passage?

A. Your height most probably depends on how high your parents are.

B You may be scared sometimes when you grow too fast.

C. Girls’ age for starting puberty is usually earlier than that for boys’.

D. The time showing the first changes of puberty is never noticed.

58. After reading this passage, we can explain _____________.

A. how good it is to be a doctor B. how much sleep time we need

C. why genes can’t decide everything D. what healthy diet is

59. This passage is mainly about ________________.

A. how the genes work in your body.

B. how you grow to a certain height

C. why you look like your parents

D. when is the time you grow fast
