Dear Gregory,
Merry Christmas! You are now the proud owner of an i-Phone. You are a good 13-year-old boy, but with your acceptance of this present come some rules. Please read through the following list of rules. I hope that you understand that it is my job to help you into a healthy young man who can make good use of it without being ruled by it. Failure to comply with (遵守)the following list will result in the end of your iPhone ownership.
1) It is my phone. I bought it. I paid for it. I am lending it to you. Aren’t I the greatest?
2) If it rings, answer it. It is a phone. Say hello and use your manners. Do not ever ignore (忽視)a phone call if the screen reads “Mom” or “Dad,,.
3) It does not go to school with you. Have communication with your friends face to face. That’s an important life skill. But half days, field trips and after school activities will require special consideration (考慮).
4) If it falls into the toilet, drop on the ground or disappear into thin air, you are to pay for the replacement or repair costs. Mow lawns (害’]草)平),take care of your little brother or save up your birthday money. Accidents will happen, so you should be prepared.
5) Turn it off, silence it and put it away in public - especially in a restaurant, at the movies or while speaking with another human being. You are not a rude person. Do not allow your new toy to change that.
6) Don’t take too many pictures and videos. There is no need to save everything. Live within your experiences. They will be stored in your memory for ever.
7) Leave your phone at home sometimes and feel safe in that decision. It is not alive, and it is not a part of your body. Leam to live without it. Be bigger and more powerful than your “FOMO” - fear of missing out.
8) Keep your eyes up. See the world happening around you. Look out a window. Listen to the birds. Take a walk. Wonder without Googling.
9) If you mess up (搞砸了),I will take away your phone. We will sit down and talk about it. We will start over again. You and I, we are always learning. I am on your side and we are in this together.

Many of us have ever loved the two bears — a brown Teddy bear and a yellow Winnie-the- Pooh bear. The two bears come from real stories in life.
In 1902, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the USA, went on hunting. The hunting dogs found an old bear in the forest near Washington D.C. and the guide asked the president to shoot it. But President Roosevelt disagreed. A cartoonist drew a cartoon showing that the president refused to shoot the bear. Soon, the bear began to appear in other newspapers. People named the bear Teddy which was Theodore’s nickname (昵稱).
In 1913, a captain (上尉)named Harry Coleboum paid 20 dollars for a black bear which was bom in the Canadian countryside. The captain’s hometown, Winnipeg, was the origin (起源、)of the bear’s name. In Winnipeg, Winnie served (服務(wù))as the mascot (吉祥物).When World War I began, the captain went to France. Winnie was sent to London Zoo which many kids often visited. Because of its lovely look, the bear became popular with children.
