下文改編自阿瑟•柯南•道爾的小說《巴斯克維爾的獵犬》閱讀短文,回答問題
"There's someone in there," cried Lestrade. "I can hear a movement. Open the door!" Holmes kicked the door down, and we all rushed in. We expected to see Stapleton, but he was not there. The room had been made into a kind of museum for Stapleton's butterflies and insects, but tied to a post in the centre of it was a bundle of blankets which turned out to be Mrs. Stapleton. A cloth had been tied around her neck and another across her mouth so that she could not speak. We untied her. She was weak and exhausted but managed to say, "Has he escaped? Is he safe?"
"He cannot escape us, madam."
"I do not mean my husband. Is Sir Henry safe?"
We assured her that he was and told her that the hound was dead. She began to cry. "I have been a fool! I knew that he was trying to kill Sir Henry with the dog, and I should have stopped him, but I couldn't." "Tell us where he is, Madam," said Holmes.
"There is only one place. It is an old tin mine in the middle of Grimpen Mire, where he kept his hound." Questions:
1. Who did they expect to see?
2. What was the room like?
3. Who was tied to a post?
4. How did Stapleton want to kill Sir Henry?
5. What is the meaning of the "hound"?

When I looked at the mark on my maths paper, my jaw (下巴)almost dropped to the ground: a big "65" in bright red ink. I had never received such a terrible mark before.
When I got home that afternoon, I lied to my dad. I told him I got 85 and that the report wouldn't come until the end of the month. Dad smiled. His daughter would never lie about her marks, so he didn't doubt my words.
A month later, Dad casually (隨意地)asked me again about the report at the dinner table. He looked right into my eyes and asked for an answer. Having no choice, I told him that I had in fact got just 65 in my maths final. I had lied because I didn't want to let him down.
For a moment, he just looked at me. I would have preferred a telling-off (斥責(zé))than that silence. Finally, Dad said, in a hurt voice, "You have already let me down, with your lie. I am not disappointed at your Maths mark. No one can be perfect all the time. But I am very disappointed in you. If you can't be honest with your dad, who can you be honest with? It's much easier to get a higher mark than rebuild someone else's trust in you." Dad's words touched my heart. I could not forgive (原諒)myself for having hurt his feelings. I took out the report that I had been hiding for weeks, handed it to him and apologized (道歉)sincerely. I realized that my honesty is not only important to me, but to those that truly care about me.
In one of Shakespeare's plays a character says, "No legacy (遺產(chǎn))is so rich as honesty" After the crisis between Dad and me, I began to understand those words.
