   Lofton is a little village (村莊) in England. It is not far from the city of Manchester. Not many families live around the village,so the people all know each other. Most of them are friendly and helpful.

Though (盡管) their homes are in Lofton,many people have jobs in Manchester. Some work in large factories there. A few work in shops or offices. Most of these people go to work by train. It usually takes about half an hour to go from Lofton to Manchester.

    In the evening a lot of people like watching TV. But if they go to see a film or go to a concert (音樂 會(huì)) ，they have to go to Manchester,because there are no cinemas in Lofton.

    Like many other villages near towns or cities,it is clean and quiet. So life in Lofton may not be so exciting as the life in big cities,but it can be just as interesting. That is why people in Lofton love their village.

So they can get some suggestions. And these can suggest the students their interests of study or their jobs they would like to do when they grow up. At school they may choose a subject like biology,math or a foreign language or it could be a skill such as car or computer repair.

    Some people agree to do this because it can make students think about what they want to do and help them get ready for their future. They say that choosing students’own interest will make high school more interesting to many students. But other people disagree because they say this could make it difficult for students to discover different possibilities (可能性) . And they say fourteen-year-old students are too young to know what they want to do in their life.

    So what is your idea of your high school? Would you like to decide what you are going to learn?
