London will host a major exhibition(展覽) of 15th-century Chinese artwork, including paintings, sculptures (雕塑)and porcelain, which are all from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The exhibition will be open from Sept 18 to Jan 5. On display will be 108 cultural relics from 10 museums in China, as well as collections from the British Museum and museums in Japan, the United States and Europe. The exhibition will be in five parts to give an overview of the society.
"This was a time when the political and social system of the dynasty became stable(穩(wěn)定), and the country also experienced huge changes. China was in frequent contact with the rest of the world at that time, and its artists and scholars also influenced other cultures," said Yao Yu, the director of this activity. During this time, Beijing became the capital of China, and Zheng He (1371-1433) set sail and reached the shores of eastern Africa.
Jessica from the British Museum, said "reading" an artwork may differ in different cultures. "When a Chinese audience sees a painting you see figures and stories. But we see beautiful views. " However, she added that the British public had a basic knowledge of the dynasty and many British people probably knew more about the later period of the Ming Dynasty after the Portuguese and Spanish came to China to trade. Their houses and dining tables have Chinese blue and white vases but they don’t know much about the earlier period, which in China was a more culturally important period.
"We’d like to take away people from the idea that China became international after the Europeans arrived. China in the early Ming Dynasty was very international. "

A new World Bank report warns that children who do not get enough good food in the first two years of life suffer lasting damage. They may be underdeveloped or underweight. They may suffer from poor health or limited intelligence.Besides, these children are more likely to drop out of school and earn less money as adults.
The report notes that too little food is not the only cause of poor nutrition. Many children who live in homes with plenty of food suffer for other reasons.
The study also connects malnutrition(營(yíng)養(yǎng)不良)to economic growth in poor countries.A lack of nutrition in early childhood can cost developing nations up to three percent of their yearly earnings. Many of these countries have same economic problems that are growing at a rate of two to three percent yearly. The study suggests that poor countries could possibly double their economic growth if they improved nutrition.
Africa and South Asia are affected the most by poor nutrition. The study says about half of all children in India do not get enough good food. The World Bank study also notes that rates of malnutrition in South Asia are almost double those in central and southern Africa.Other parts of the world are also seriously affected, including Indonesia,Uzbekistan,Yemen,Guatemala and Peru.
The study recommends that developing countries change their ways to deal with malnutrition.Instead of directly providing food, the study suggests educational programs in health and nutrition for mothers with young babies. It also recommends cleaner living conditions and improvements in health care.

Canada is one of the few nations in the world to have two official languages:English and French. There are 10 provinces in the country but only one of these—Quebec is known as "French Canada". This is because it was founded by French explorers while British adventurers discovered the rest.
Canada left the Britain in 1867 to become an independent country, and English and French have been recognized as the official languages ever since.
Most people speak English as their first language and the two national television networks broadcast in English throughout the country. Apart from in Quebec and a few places on the east coast, French television is very rare.
The same goes for traffic signs and menus, for example. Outside of Quebec, there are only a few places where you'll see traffic signs in French. In restaurants, it's almost impossible to find French on the menu unless you are in the heartland of French Canada. However, all products sold in Canada must, by law, have labels(標(biāo)簽)and instructions in both languages.
In Canada's English speaking provinces, official bilingualism(雙語(yǔ))means that students can choose to complete a special French language course. Under this programme, they are taught most of their subjects in French. If a student begins the course in kindergarten(幼兒園)or Grade One, it is likely that all their lessons will be in French. However, if they start at junior high school, 25 per cent of the teaching will continue to be in English.
1. How many provinces are there in Canada?
A. Ten B.Nine C.Eleven D.Two
2.Which country controlled Canada before its independence?
A. France. B. Britain. C. America. D. Germany.
3.Which of the following sentences is Right?
A. English is the only official language, though French is also spoken there.
B. The two national television networks broadcast both in English and French.
C. All products sold in Canada must be explained in both English and French.
D. In any restaurant in Canada, you can find French on the menu.
4.In Canada’s English speaking provinces, what does official bilingualism means?
A. Students have to complete a special French language course.
B. Under the programme, the students are mainly taught in English.
C. If a student begins a special French language course, in kindergarten or Grade one all his lessons may be in French.
D. When the students are at junior high school, they will only be taught in English.

If you live in the U.S., you’re probably used to throwing banana peel into the trash. But people in other countries, including India, have been taking advantages of their nutritional benefits for many years.
While the flesh of a banana is soft and sweet, the skin is thick, hard and slightly bitter. To eat the peel, you can fry, bake, or boil it for at least 10 minutes. Also, the riper bananas get, the thinner and sweeter banana peel will become. That’s because of a natural plant hormone(激素) called ethylene(乙烯) that fruits release as they ripen. Ethylene interacts with the sugars and fiber in the banana skin, changing complex sugars into simple sugars and breaking down pectin, a form of fiber in bananas that keeps them stiff. That’s why the older your banana is, the flimsier(不結(jié)實(shí)的) it feels.
The sweet flesh of a medium-sized banana contains great percentages of your daily recommended intake of various nutrients, such as:
·12% of your daily fiber, which helps with digestion and may help lower your risk of diabetes(糖尿病)
·17% of your vitamin C, which is important for your immune system as well as your growth
·20% of your vitamin B6, which aids the body’s ability to turn food into energy
·12% of your potassium, which helps with the development of cells, tissues, and organs throughout the body
If you eat the skin along with the flesh, you will get an even bigger increase in these same nutrients.
Eating the peel is not only good for your body but also better for the earth. The average American ate 11.4 pounds of bananas in 2014. Since a medium-sized banana weighs about 0.3 pounds, that equates to about 38 bananas per person, or about 12 billion for the whole of the U.S. And since most of us throw away the peel, that also means a lot of organic waste.
1.We can learn from the text that in the U.S. people .
A. like eating bananas
B. waste a lot of food every year
C. don’t make good use of banana peel
D. know little about the value of the flesh of bananas

A. Helping bananas grow faster.
B. Making banana peel stay strong.
C. Keeping banana flesh from going bad.
D. Helping to soften and sweeten banana peel.
3.Which of the following helps humans digest?
A. Vitamin C. B. Potassium.
C. Vitamin B6. D. Fiber.
4.The last paragraph mainly shows that eating banana peel benefits our .
