17.China is a country on the move-especially around its Lunar New Year holiday. This year, the holiday crush(客流量)promises to be even heavier than before.
Government officials estimate that Chinese people will take to the air, roads and railways 3.62 billion times over a 40-day period around the nation's most important holiday this year as people push their way home for family gatherings or to satisfy their new-found passion for travel.
Getting tickets to all those would-be travelers is a discounting challenge that annually tries patience. And it is the railway system that routinely is most unable to cope.Railways are the transport of choice for low-cost long-distance travel, and that's where the ticketing system routinely falls down.
Much of the criticism has, focused on the railway's-online purchasing system.Which has been unable to keep pace with the huge demand and also failed to stop scalpers(票販子)from ending up with many of the hard-to-find tickets.
While insist ing that online sales were the fairest way to get tickets for travelers, railway official s told reporters that the public need to be patient.Efforts were being made to provide online identity checks that would reduce the ticket scalping problems. While officials had little good news for rail passengers, they did manage to bring a few smiles to those traveling by car as the country's extremely expensive highway tolls (通行費)will be free of charge for the period of the official holiday.

5.We're in the middle of winter.It's cold and we're suffering from cold wind and rain.The sun,even when it does show its face,is setting at 4p.m.It's no wonder people in the street look sad.
But according to most of the research on the connection between weather and mood(情緒),they shouldn't be.Weather has little effect on mood.
When you tell people this,though,they don't believe it.Most of us think the weather has quite a strong effect on our mood.Many think that the rain and cold weather dejects us and the sun and warmth cheers us up.
So why don't we see this effect in the research?That's the question a new study by Klimstra et al.tries to answer with a group of young people and their mothers.In fact,Klimstra et al.found four different groups:
1.Unaffected:about half the people in their study fell into this group.For these people it didn't matter that much whether it was raining  or sunny,hot or cold,their mood was mostly unaffected.
2.Summer lovers:here's the group you'd expect.For these people,their mood improved with less rain,more sun and higher temperatures(15% of young people and 30% of their mothers).
3.Summer haters:here's the group of people you hear less about.These were the exact opposite of the summer lovers so they were happier when there was more rain,less sun and lower temperatures (27% of the young people and 12% of their mothers).
4.Rain haters:this group's mood didn't change with the temperature,sunshine or the wind;they just hated the rain(8% of young people and 12% of their mothers).
This helps explain why studies keep finding that weather doesn't have much effect on mood:it's because we're different and these differences are mostly being averaged out.

32.It's found in the study thatD.
A.weather has a strong effect on mood
B.cold wind and rain makes us look sad
C.the sun and warmth cheers us up

A.make sb.happy      B.make sb.sad
C.make sb.a(chǎn)ngry      D.make sb.silly
34.From the four different groups we can learnD.
A.a(chǎn)bout half the people belong to summer lovers
B.more than one third of the people are summer haters
C.few of young people and their mothers like the rain
D.more young people are unaffected than rain haters
35.What is the BEST title for the passage?A
A.Does the weather really affect your mood?
B.Why do people feel sad in cold winter?
C.How many different groups are there?

9.Air travel makes some people very nervous. But there are classes people can take to help themselves defeat the fear of flying. And now similar training can be provided for service dogs that suffer the same problem.
Service dogs almost never leave the side of the people they care for.You will see them working on buses, trains and other public transport. But the busy environment found at an airport can disturb even the best-trained working dogs.
People with disabilities depend on their dogs. They want the animals to safely guide them through security areas. They also want the dogs to remain calm on duty on the airplane, even when the flying is not smooth. This takes special training. The Air Hollywood K9 flight School is one place where such help can be found.
The school has a piece of equipment that provides the sights, sounds and even the feel of an airplane in flight. It is called a flight simulator (模擬器).The simulator was initially built for filming airplane scenes in movies.
Sandy Alexander lives in Newport Beach,California. He has a disability that requires his two-year-old dog,Doc,to be always at his side.Mr Alexander took the dog to the flight school to get him ready for plane trips.
According to her working experience,Mary Sgall says, successful training is based on a simple rule:preparation.Dogs need to be exposed to the environment over and over again,to loud noises,to sounds and busy crowds so that when this experience happens to them on a daily basis, they're able to act in a way that they're used to acting,"she explained.
Dog owners who attended the training at Air Hollywood K9 flight School say they now feel much more at ease about future flights.Their dogs also seem ready for takeoff.
