You don't need superpowers to commit to being healthier.Check out these tips.

Write it and measure it.1Writing down your goals is not only a great way to accomplish them, but your list can also help you figure out the exact steps needed to get there."I want to lose weight"is a pretty common resolution(方案),but how exactly do you go from point A to point B?2For instance:"I want to lose 10 pounds over the next six weeks by going to the gym three to four times per week."

Make resolutions manageable.A resolution shouldn't be a fantasy. The key to sustainable resolutions is to make small changes gradually. So if your goal is to go from never running to finishing a half-marathon,start training gradually.3.

4Not knowing how to do a certain exercise is no excuse to write it off completely. If you're curious about new techniques, book a session with a personal trainer to clear up confusion and help prevent injury.

Think outside the box.5If your resolution is to simply be more active and bum more calories every day, there are plenty of creative ways to achieve that goal. You can fit extra movement into the day by walking during phone conversations or even volunteering for household chores.

A.Ask for help.

B.Choose the right tech.

C.Instead, try setting a more specific goal.

D.Exercise doesn't have to be a formal activity.

E.Resolutions should be both specific and measurable.

F.Begin by walking a few miles, and steadily increase it to jogging, and then running.

G.The reason is that the brain just likes measurable old habits over new, different ones.

1E

2C

3F

4A

5D

Write it and measure it,首先,E選項Resolutions should be both specific and measurable中的both...and..

I want to lose weight"is a pretty common resolution(方案),but how exactly do you go from point A to point B? Instead,try setting a more specific goal符合語境,故選C。

So if your goal is to go from never running to finishing a half-marathon,start training gradually如果你的目標是從從未跑步到完成半個馬拉松,那就一步一步地開始訓練。 Begin by walking a few miles, and steadily increase it to jogging, and then running.

If you're curious about new techniques, book a session with a personal trainer to clear up confusion and help prevent injury. 故選A。

Exercise doesn't have to be a formal activity“鍛煉不一定非得是某種正式的運動”符合語境。故選D。

【題目】In agrarian(農(nóng)業(yè)的), pre-industrial Europe, youd want to wake up early, start working with the sunrise, have a break to have the largest meal, and then youd go back to work, says Ken Albala, a professor of history at the University of the Pacific. Later, at 5 or 6, youd have a smaller supper.

This comfortable cycle, in which the rhythms of the day helped shape the rhythms of the meals, gave rise to the custom of the large midday meal, eaten with the extended family. Meals are the foundation of the family, says Carole Couniban, a professor at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, so there was a very important interconnection between eating together and strengthening family ties.”

Since industrialization, maintaining such a slow cultural metabolism has been much harder, with the long midday meal shrinking to whatever could be stuffed into a lunch bucket or bought at a food stand. Certainly, there were benefits. Modern techniques for producing and shipping food led to greater variety and quantity, including a tremendous increase in the amount of animal protein and dairy products available, making us more energetic than our ancestors.

Yet plenty has been lost too, even in cultures that still live to eat. Take Italy. Its no secret that the Mediterranean diet is healthy, but it was also a joy to prepare and eat. Italians, says Counihan, traditionally began the day with a small meal. The big meal came at around 1 p.m. In between the midday meal and a late, smaller dinner came a small snack. Today, when time zones have less and less meaning, there is little tolerance for offices closing for lunch, and worsening traffic in cities means workers cant make it home and back fast enough anyway. So the formerly small supper after sundown becomes the big meal of the day, the only one at which the family has a chance to get together. The evening meal carries the full burden that used to be spread over two meals,” says Counihan.

1What does Professor Carole Counihan say about pre-industrial European families eating meals together?

A. It was helpful to maintaining a nations tradition.

B. It brought family members closer to each other.

C. It was characteristic of the agrarian culture.

D. It enabled families to save a lot of money.

2What does cultural metabolism”(Line 1, Para. 3) refer to?

A. Evolutionary adaptation. B. Changes in lifestyle.

C. Social progress. D. Pace of life.

3What does the author think of the food people eat today?

A. Its quality is usually guaranteed.

B. It is varied, abundant and nutritious.

C. It is more costly than what our ancestors ate.

D. Its production depends too much on technology.

4What does the author say about Italians of the old days?

A. They enjoyed cooking as well as eating.

B. They ate a big dinner late in the evening.

C. They ate three meals regularly every day.

D. They were expert at cooking meals.
