It is+形容詞+for sb+to do sth,這里是it做形式主語,真正的主語是不定式結(jié)構(gòu)to live together in the shared space。故填it

2

故填However。

3

故填a。

6

故填have been built。

8

故填where。

9

play with…

Hawaii possesses the unique scenery of islands, but pollution takes away all the 1(beautiful) of the beaches here. I hate to go to the beaches on sunny weekends and see rubbish bags lying on the sand, cigarette butts(煙頭) 2(bury) in the sand, and soda cans floating in the ocean.

Last night I was driving from Harrisburg to Lewisburg, a distance of about eighty miles. It was late. Several times I got stuck behind a slow-moving truck on a narrow road with a solid white line on my left, and I became increasingly impatient.

At one point along an open road, I came to a crossing with a traffic light. I was alone on the road by now, but as I drove near the light, it turned red and I made a stop. I looked left, right and behind me. Nothing. Not a car, no suggestion of car lamps, but there I sat, waiting for the light to change, the only human being for at least a mile at any direction.

I started wondering why I refused to run the light. I was not afraid of being caught, because there was clearly no policeman around, and there certainly would have been no danger in going thorough it.

Much later that night, the question of why I’d stopped for that light came back to me. I think I stopped because it’s part of a contract (契約) we all have with each other. It’s not only the law, but it’s an agreement we have, and we trust each other to honor it: we don’t go through red lights.

Trust is our first inclination (傾向). Doubting others does not seem to be natural to us. The whole construction of our society depends on mutual (互相) trust, not distrust. We do what we say we’ll do; we show up when we say we’ll show up;and we pay when we say we’ll pay. We trust each other in these matters, and we’re angry or disappointed with the person or organization that breaks the trust we have in them.

1Why did the author feel impatient while driving?

A.He came across too many traffic lights.B.He got tired of driving too long.

C.He was lonely on the road.D.He was slowed down by a truck.

2What was the author’s immediate action when the traffic light turned red?

A.Stopping still.B.Driving through it.

C.Looking around for other cars.D.Checking out for traffic police.

3The event made the author strongly believe that ________.

A.traffic rules may be unnecessary

B.doubting others is human nature

C.patience is important to drivers

D.a society needs mutual trust

4Why was the author proud of himself?

A.He kept his promise.

B.He held back his anger.

C.He made a right decision---not running the light.

D.He followed his inclination---running the light.

When I am traveling around, I watch people a lot in order kill time. The other day, I saw a couple at an airport. They were not worn business clothes, but the man were carrying a suitcase. Every few second, the woman had looked around. I wondered that someone was following them. Suddenly I remembered a story in a newspaper I had read a week before: the bank clerk stole one million pounds and disappeared with his wife. The couple real looked like them. Maybe I should stop them. Just then, I saw them say goodbye to each other, and the woman walk away.

When I was a little boy, the dinner in the eve of Spring Festival is what I looked forward to most. It was not only for the delicious food, and for the opportunity for our whole families to get together. I would run around the house, listened to the adults chatting about their year. I’d get under my mother’s feet in the kitchen, watching her to make dumplings. In the evening, all of them would sit around the table, enjoying the food and being together again. We toasted each other and laugh easy. The simple, homemade dishes tasted delicious than anything cook by a top chef.

With around 100 students scheduled to be in that 9:00 am Monday morning lecture, it is no surprise that almost 20 people actually make it to the class and only 10 of them are still awake after the first 15 minutes; it is not even a surprise that most of them are still in their pajama’s(睡衣). Obviously, students are terrible at adjusting their sleep cycles to their daily schedule.

All human beings possess a body clock. Along with other alerting systems, this governs the sleep/wake cycle and is therefore one of the main processes which govern sleep behaviour. Typically, the preferred sleep/wake cycle is delayed in adolescents, which leads to many students not feeling sleepy until much later in the evenings. This typical sleep pattern is usually referred to as the “night owl” schedule of sleep.

This is opposed to the “early bird” schedule, and is a kind of disorder where the individual tends to stay up much past midnight. Such a person has great difficulty in waking up in the mornings. Research suggests that night owls feel most alert and function best in the evenings and at night. Research findings have shown that about 20 percent of people can be classified as “night owls” and only 10 percent can be classified as “early birds” ------ the other 70 percent are in the middle. Although this is clearly not true for all students, for the ones who are true night owls, this gives them an excellent excuse for missing their lectures which unfortunately fall before midday.

1What does the author stress in Paragraph 1?

A.Many students are absent from class.

B.Students are very tired on Monday mornings.

C.Students do not adjust their sleep patterns well.

D.Students are not well prepared for class on Mondays.

2Which of the following is true according to Paragraph 2?

A.Most students prefer to get up late in the morning.

B.Students don’t sleep well because of alerting systems.

C.One’s body clock governs the sleep/wake cycle independently.

D.Adolescents’ delayed sleep/wake cycle isn’t the preferred pattern.

3Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined word “classified”?

A.CriticizedB.GroupedC.OrganizedD.Named

4What does the text mainly talk about?

A.Functions of the body clock.

B.The “night owl” phenomenon.

C.Human beings’ sleep behaviour.

D.The school schedule of “early birds”.
