12.Both Males And Females Have Right to Choose Personality
Recently,the debate about males'masculinity (男子漢氣概) has been quite heated.Some people think that males should be different from females and show their masculinity while others hold the view that too much emphasis on masculinity can lead to male violence and an excessive desire for power and status.
While everyone has his or her own opinions,what really matters is that one should have the right to choose their own personality-whether masculine or feminine.Besides,it is important that everyone should respect other people's choices,and should not look down upon others because they do not follow the mainstream.
One of my college classmates has suffered discrimination owing to his personality and clothes.He is a shy boy with a soft voice and he likes dressing in pink shirts,which makes him a little girlish.Some students often talk in the back,saying that he had no masculinity,and some even doubted that he might be gay.During group activities,some students deliberately alienate him.This drove him crazy.He complained to me,"Personal behavior and clothing are my own choices.Why can't other students respect my choice and tolerate my difference?"
Indeed,no one can push others to be manly,but should learn to respect difference.The same goes for females as no one can force females to be feminine.
In the traditional concept,females should be gentle and soft.However,in modern society,more and more women are beginning to focus on their own rights,and have their own thoughts.Some women have made extraordinary achievements in some fields.But brave,decisive and independent females with remarkable achievements at work are often labeled as strong women,which has bad implications.Some people will say these females are too strong and lack the femininity women are supposed to have.
Meanwhile,females'clothing choices are often judged by others.Women these days often dress for comfort.However,this kind of clothing is criticized for not having female charm.There is even a prejudice that females who dress this way are often not accpeted.
In modern society,both males and females have the right to choose whether they want to be masculine or feminine rather than be limited by social stereotypes (老套) based on gender.Only in this way can we further harbor the benefits of gender equality and freedom of choice.

5.As part of an effort to improve treatments for life-threatening illnesses,a team of scientists have created rabbits that glow in the dark.
Their efforts have produced two rabbits out of a litter of eight that went from being a normal, soft white to glowing green in the dark. The rabbits were born at the University of Istanbul as part of the collaboration between scientists from universities in Turkey and Hawaii.
The rabbits glow to show that a genetic operation technique can work efficiently, though the specific color is more cosmetic than scientific."The green is not important at all-it's just a marker to show the experiment can be done successfully,"said University of Hawaii associate professor,Stefan Moisyadi.
To produce the glowing effect, researchers injected jellyfish(水母)DNA into a mother rabbit's embryos. Then those embryos were inserted back into the mother.Similar experiments have resulted in glowing cockroaches(蟑螂)and cats.
Eventually, the researchers hope the technique can lead to new ways to produce medicines,Moisyadi said.
"The final goal is to develop animals that are able to produce beneficial molecules(分子)in their milk that can be cheaply extracted(提。,especially in countries that cannot afford big factories that make drugs, which  usually cost US $1 bn to build. Then they will be able to produce their own protein-based medication in animals,"Moisyadi said.
The rabbits are expected to have the same life span as their non-glowing counterparts, but Moisyadi said he understands people can object to this kind of experimentation involving live animals.
"To the people against,I say:think about, what are the benefits and what are the injuries?"Moisyadi said."And if the benefits outweigh the injuries, let's go with the benefits."
Moisyadi,a native of Turkey who is now with the University of Hawaii, started developing the project in 2006,and researchers are now waiting to see if pregnant sheep produce similar results.
31.What do we know about the glowing rabbits?D
A.They live shorter lives than ordinary rabbits.
B.Their fur became green after the experiment.
C.They were chosen from a special species of rabbits.
D.The color that they glow isn't of interest to scientist.
32.Why did scientists conduct the experiment to create glowing rabbits?C
A.To research  animal genes.
B.To improve animal species.
C.To produce cheap,beneficial medicine.
D.To improve animal's ability to resist disease.
33.Which animal wasn't used as the test subject?C

34.Which of the following is TRUE,according to the passage?C
A.The project is supported by people.
B.The success rate in creating the rabbits is 20%.
C.The project has been conducted for more than nine years.
D.The project is mainly conducted by Turkish scientists.
35.What is Moisyadi's attitude towards such experimentation?B
A.Doubtful.B.Supportive.C.Disapproving.D.Indifferent.
