One year ago, I had a special English lesson hold at the railway station. It was quite different from the regular English classes we were familiar to, for we had no textbooks, no blackboard and no fixed seats.

Gathered at the entrance of the station, we told to collect as much English words and sentence as possible there. Curious and excited, we walked around the station and looked everywhere, search for any information in English. Whenever an English word comes into sight, the class wouldburstinto the cheers as if we had discovered a new world. With the Chinese translation and vividly pictures, we could figure out its meaning with ease.

Now, this unforgettable lesson still encourages me to be an active learner where I go.

2.考查介詞固定搭配。句意:它完全不同于我們所熟悉的常規(guī)英語課堂。be familiar with 一般是指某人熟悉某人、某物。be familiar to則是某物、某事為某人熟悉。故把to改為with。

3. 考查現(xiàn)在分詞作狀語。句意:我們聚集在火車站門口,被要求在那里收集盡可能多的英語單詞和句子。這里主從句主語一致,從句動詞用現(xiàn)在分詞作狀語,表示和主句主語we的主動關(guān)系。故Gathered改為Gathering。

4. 本句中English words and sentences是可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)形式,many用來修飾可數(shù)名詞,要用as many as possible表示“盡可能多的”,故much改為many。

5.考查可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)。sentence是可數(shù)名詞,和可數(shù)名詞English words并列,需用復(fù)數(shù)形式,故sentence—sentences。

6.考查非謂語動詞。句意:我們好奇又激動,在車站周圍走動,到處看,搜尋英語的信息。這里用現(xiàn)在分詞searching表示和主語we是主動關(guān)系,而且伴隨謂語動作walked around the station and looked everywhere,故search改為searching。

7. 考查時態(tài)。句意:一旦有英文單詞進入我們的視野,班級里便會發(fā)出歡呼聲,好像我們發(fā)現(xiàn)了新大陸一樣。根據(jù)第一句的時間狀語One year ago,可知本文是在描述過去的事情,用一般過去時態(tài),故comes改為came。

8.考查固定搭配。burst into cheers“爆發(fā)出歡呼聲”,是固定短語。故the去掉。

9.考查形容詞。句意:因為有中文翻譯以及生動的圖畫,我們能很輕松地猜測出英文單詞的意思。這里需用形容詞vivid修飾名詞pictures,故vividly改為vivid。

10.句意:現(xiàn)在,無論我到哪里,這節(jié)難忘的英語課仍然會激勵我成為積極的學(xué)習(xí)者。根據(jù)句意可知這里用wherever表示“無論在哪里”。

Volunteering is good for your health whether you are young or old, but it's especially good in older adults.
Volunteering offers you the chance to try out a new career without making a long-term commitment. It is also a great way to gain experience in a new field. 【題目】If you want a little extra security against thieves stealing your bicycle, designer Dennis Siegel has designed a solution. The RFID Bikealarm is attached to the seat on a bicycle and gives off an alarm when it senses movement.

“The RFID Bikealarm is meant to be a useful add-on to mechanical bicycle locks because it greatly extends the range of protection with only a few components,” Siegel explains on his website. “It is low-cost, durable and easy to use.”

The Bikealarm was designed as part of Siegel’s Bachelor’s degree thesis at the University of the Arts Bremen in Germany. The device will scare off any would-be thieves the moment they begin to steal the bicycle to which it is attached. It is able to continuously sense the environment to distinguish between specific events, for instance a passing tram / car and a serious theft.

Siegel created a working model of an alarm that would sound when it sensed movement, but wasn’t initially sure how it would be best attached to a bicycle. “I decided to mount it to the rails of the seat because it allows for comfortable interaction and the position is less obvious as it looks like a small repair kit,” he says.

Siegel chose to use RFID technology rather than Bluetooth to keep the costs down. Siegel explains that the most difficult aspect of creating the alarm was to get the electronic circuit down to a small enough size.

The device runs off a kind of battery that can be charged by USB within 2 hours and lasts for a few days with normal use. As the Bikealarm is only at development stage, Siegel hasn’t signed any agreements to put it on the market.
