篇章結(jié)構(gòu)

下面是一篇雜志文章,請將標有A-G的段落插入文章中標號的合適位置,使這篇文章意義完整,結(jié)構(gòu)連貫;其中有兩個段落是多余的。

The oldest stone buildings in the world are the pyramids. 1 .There are over eighty of them scattered along the banks of the Nile, some of which are different in shape from the true pyramids. The most famous of these are the“step”pyramid and“Bent"pyramid.

Some of the pyramids still look much the same as they must have done when they were built thousands of years ago. Most of the damage suffered by the others has been at the hands of men who were looking for treasure or, more often, for stone to use in modern buildings. 2 .These are good reasons why they can still be seen today, but perhaps the most important is that they were planned to last forever. 3 .However, there are no writings or pictures to show us how the Egyptians planned or built the pyramids themselves. 4 .Nevertheless, by examining the actual pyramids and various tools which have been found, archaeologists have formed a fairly clear picture of them.

One thing is certain:there must have been months of careful planning before they could begin to build. 5 .You may think this would have been easy with miles and miles of empty desert around, but a pyramid could not be built just anywhere.Certain rules had to be followed, and certain problems had to be overcome.

A.The dry climate of Egypt has helped to preserve the pyramids, and their very shape have made them less likely to fall into ruin.

B.It is practically certain that plans were made for the building of the pyramids because the plans of other large works have fortunately been preserved.

C.The first thing they had to do was to choose a suitable place.

D.Consequently, we are only able to guess at the methods used.

E.Many people were killed while building the pyramids.

F.They have stood for nearly 5, 0 years, and it seems likely that they will continue to stand for thousands of years yet.

G.It takes workers twenty years to build the Pyramids.

Passage structure(篇章結(jié)構(gòu))

下面是一篇雜志文章,請將標有A-F的段落插入文章中標號為1-5的合適位置,使這篇文章意義完整,結(jié)構(gòu)連貫;其中有一個段落是多余的。

Every year more and more plants and animals disappear never to be seen again.

  1.________

Every day, thousands of species(種類)of animals draw closer to extinction(滅絕).There are countless numbers of species which may become extinct before they are even discovered.

  2.________

The problem is acid(酸)rain.Acid rain is a kind of air pollution.

  3.________

The rain in many places isn’t natural and clean any more. It’s full of acid chemicals.

  4.________

But dead fish may be just the beginning of the problem.Scientists are finding other effects of acid rain.

  5.________

Now scientists are also beginning to study the effects of acid rain on larger animals. For example, they believe that some deer in Poland are less healthy because of acid rain.If deer are hurt by the rain, what about people? This is the question many people are beginning to ask.No one knows the answer yet.But it is an important question for us all.

A.Seldom does it rain and there is little fresh water here for the fish.A series of development projects has destroyed the natural environment.Waste of different kinds can be seen here and there. This has caused a serious problem for fish and other animals living around.

B.In some large areas trees are dying. Not just one tree here and there, but the whole forests. At first scientists couldn’t understand why. There were no bugs(蟲)or diseases in these trees. The weather was not dry.But now they think that the rain was the cause.Acid rain is making the earth more acidic in these areas. Some kinds of trees cannot live in the soil that is very acidic.

C.When it falls in lakes, it changes them too.The lakes become more acidic.Acid water is like vinegar(醋)or lemon juice. It hurts when it gets in your eyes.It also kills the plants and animals that usually live in lake water. That is why the fish are dying in lakes.

D.It is caused by factories that burn coal or oil or gas. These factories send smoke into the air.The wind often carries the smoke far from the factories. Some of the harmful substances(物質(zhì))in the smoke may come down with the rain hundreds of miles away.

E.Strangely, it is the most intelligent(聰明的)but most thoughtless animal that is causing most of the problems-man.Nature is very carefully balanced(平衡的)and if this balance is disturbed(破壞),animals can disappear surprisingly fast.

F.In many lakes the fish are dying.Fishermen are worried because every year there are fewer fish and some lakes have no fish at all.Scientists are beginning to get worried too. What is killing the fish?

She is widely seen as proof that good looks can last forever. But, at nearly 500 years of age, time is catching up with the Mona Lisa.

     71

“The thin, wooden panel on which the Mona Lisa is painted in oil has changed shape since experts checked it two years ago,” the museum said.   72

73    “It is very interesting that when you’re not looking at her, she seems to be smiling, and then you look at her and she stops,” said Professor Margaret Livingstone of Harvard University. “It’s because direct vision(視覺) is excellent at picking up detail, but less suited to looking at shadows. Da Vinci painted the smile in shadows.”

However, the actual history of the Mona Lisa is just as mysterious as the smile.      74

In 1911, the painting was stolen from the Louvre by a former employee, who took it out of the museum hidden under his coat. He said he planned to return it to Italy. The painting was sent back to France two years later.

          75

A. Nearly 6 million people go to see the Mona Lisa every year, many attracted by the mystery of her smile.

B. This picture is now so valuable that no one can tell its exact price. Therefore, many thieves tried to steal it in any way they could think of.

C. Visitors have noticed the changes but repairing the world’s most famous painting is not easy. Experts are not sure about the materials the Italian artist used and their current chemical state.

D. Da Vinci himself loved it so much that he always carried it with him, until it was eventually sold to France’s King Francis I in 1519.

E. The health of the famous picture, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1505, is getting worse by the year, according to the Louvre Museum (盧浮宮博物館) where it is housed.

F. During World War II, French hid the painting in small towns to keep it out of the hands of German forces. Like many old ladies, the Mona Lisa has some interesting stories to tell.
