Recently, our class have had a discussion about whether China should develop its private car industry. The results are as follows:

About 40% of the class hold the view that China should encourage private car industry greatly. They believe private cars can make it easier and more comfortable for Chinese to go to work, travel and so on. With private cars, we can enjoy life more. What’s more, car industry can provide more employment opportunities and increase our national income.

However, 60% are strongly against doing so. First, they think that private cars can increase gas consumption and thus cause even more serious pollution to our environment. Besides, the increasing cars will cause even more traffic jams often.

In my opinion, private cars can never replace public transport system. Therefore, whether to encourage them or not should be taken seriously. (119 words)
