13.Some of the people ______ to the party cannot come.( 。
A.invitingB.they invited
C.who invitedD.whom were invited

分析 一些他們邀請(qǐng)參加派對(duì)的人無(wú)法到來(lái).

解答 答案:B
解析:分析句子結(jié)構(gòu)可知,橫線(xiàn)處及后面的to the party為一個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句.定語(yǔ)從句的先行詞為people,故完整的定語(yǔ)從句為:that/who/whom they invited to the party.因?yàn)殛P(guān)系代詞在定語(yǔ)從句中作賓語(yǔ),故可以省略(本題無(wú)特殊情況);由此可知B選項(xiàng)正確.本題的定語(yǔ)從句還可以補(bǔ)充完整為:that/who were invited to the party.此種情況下因?yàn)殛P(guān)系代詞在句中作主語(yǔ)(且先行詞為指人的people),故只能使用that/who引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句;或者是省略掉定語(yǔ)從句的主語(yǔ)及be動(dòng)詞,直接使用invited這一動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去分詞(構(gòu)成的短語(yǔ))形式作后置定語(yǔ),由此可知A、C、D選項(xiàng)均錯(cuò)誤.

3.Parents often think that time spent with their kids will gradually decrease in adolescence.But a new study suggests that while teens try to avoid spending a lot of time together with their parents,private parent-child meetings may actually increase in their early adolescent years.And that may raise a teenager's self-esteem (自尊) and social confidence,especially if it is the time that spent with Dad,the researchers added.The researchers created a long-term study in which they invited families in 16school districts in central Pennsylvania to participate.In each family,a teenager,a younger sibling (兄弟姐妹),their mother and their father were interviewed at home and then asked about their activities and self-worth five times over a period of seven years.
The study authors were surprised to discover that when fathers spent more time alone with their teenagers,the kids reported they felt better about themselves.Something about the father's role in the family seemed to improve self-esteem among the teenagers in the study,said study co-author Susan McHale,a professor of human development at Pennsylvania State University.
"Time with Dad often involves joking,teasing,and other playful interactions.Fathers,compared to mothers,were more involved in leisure activities and had more peer-like interactions with their children,which is crucial for youth social development,"the study showed.But Marta Flaum,a psychologist in Chappaqua,New York,said,"How these findings reflect the real world is a real question.The sample in the study is so small and so unrepresentative of most families in the country today that I'm not sure how much we can generalize from it.In my community in Westchester County,I don't see parents and teenagers spend much time together at all.Parents are often working so hard and have less time to be together with their kids."
However,F(xiàn)laum encourages parents to make time for their kids no matter how much work they have to do."Research like this reminds us of how important it is.The time we have with them is so short,"she said.

28.According to the study,when teenagers spend more time alone with their fathers,A.
A.their social skills will be improved
B.their fathers will better understand them
C.they will be willing to help their siblings
D.their family members will spend more time together
29.What is Flaum'attitude towards the findings of the study?C
A.Unconcerned       B.Favorable.C.Doubtful.D.Puzzled.
30.What does the underlined word"it"in the last paragraph refer to?D
A.The research by Susan McHale.
B.The work to be done.
C.Parents'encouragement.
D.The time parents spending together with their kids.
31.Where is the passage most likely to be taken from?B
A.Science magazine.B.A news report.C.A research plan.D.An advertisement.

8.A global survey of charitable giving conducted on 135nations might give us a renewed sense of faith in humanity.
The World Giving Index 2014examined whether people donated money to a charity,volunteered their time to an organization or offered assistance to someone they didn't know who needed help.About 2.3billion people worldwide reported helping a stranger over the course of one month last year,and over 1.4billion donated money to charitable causes in 2013.
It may not be surprising that the United States,one of the wealthiest countries in the world,came on top as the most generous nation.What is astonishing is that the accolade (榮譽(yù))was shared with Myanmar,a nation ranking 151spots lower than the U.s.on the GDP per capita scale.
In fact,the report found that a nation's economic prosperity doesn't automatically translate to generosity.Only five of the countries in this year's World Giving Index Top 20are members of the G20,a forum of the world's largest economies.Less wealthy places like Sri Lanka and Trinidad and Tobago featured in the top 10.
Other factors,like following a religious philosophy or responding to a natural disaster,were found to be major drivers of donations.Myanmar earned its top place mainly due to the fact that nearly all of the respondents,91%,donated money to charity,a practice which is rooted in the country's Theravada Buddhist community.Another high-ranking country with a large population of the followers of that religion is Sri Lanka,which ranked ninth in the Index.
Malaysia's high jump in the ranking,from 71st place to 7th,was attributed to the outpouring of the humanitarian aid after the destructive Typhoon Haiyan hit the neighboring Philippines.
In Africa,Kenya has moved 18places up this year,ranking 15th in the global index.It's the most charitable country in the continent,ahead of larger economies like Nigeria,which is in the 21st place,and South Africa with rank 34th
Africans are also three times more likely to extend a helping hand to strangers than donate money or volunteer, which seems to show that they are more likely to show their generosity through community support than formalized channels.
From a global perspective, the report concludes that the diverse nature of the top giving countries signals that regardless of geography or culture, people universally appear to respond to those in need.
63.Which of the following is NOT the factor contributing to people's generosity?B
A.A nation's economic prosperity.
B.The requirement of the government.
C.The response to a natural disaster.
D.A religious philosophy.
64.The author may agree with the following versions EXCEPT thatC.
A.Kenya is the most charitable country in the continent of Africa.
B.Malaysia ranks higher this year due to its abunsant aid to Philippines.
C.Africans tend to show their generosity through formalized channels.
D.many people in Myanmar and Sri Lanka share the same religious philosophy.
65.Which of the following shows the correct order of the countries in the World Giving Index?D
A.Kenya----Tobago----Nigeria----Myanmar.
B.America----Tobago----Nigeria----Trinidad.
C.Sri Lanka----Kenya----South Africa----Trinidad.
D.Myanmar----Malaysia----Kenya----Nigeria.
