9．Online Degrees
Today，you can earn a degree from a major university without ever having sat in one of their classrooms．Many colleges and universities are offering online courses and degree programs now．
Online Learning Programs
With a computer and an Internet connection，you can earn a degree from home，work，or anywhere else for that matter．Online degree programs follow much the same routines as traditional learning，with a few twists．There are lectures，but they won't be in person．There are assignments （作業(yè)），but you won't hand them to your instructor．In most situations，you are free to"go to class"when it fits your"schedule．If you get a phone call during class，you don't have to miss anything．If you get sick，you don't have to ask for someone's notes，and you just visit the lecture later．
You'll communicate with your instructor by e-mail，chat room and instant messaging．Your  classroom will live in a special software program．Contrary to popular belief，you will have close  contact with other students and the instructor．
Evaluating the Program
There are a lot of questions to ask before you make your selection，such as：
How do students interact with each other？
★Online programs can use chat rooms，instant messaging，teleconferencing，and video conferencing to communicate．The key is to find a program that has this interaction built into it and even requires it．
★What kind of reputation does the school have？
It may seem simple-a good school will have a good online program．This reputation，however，may not be as straightforward as you think．It's not uncommon for a great school to have a weak program or two．So you'd better look at the overall quality of the school and make a judgment．
The Employers'View
As more and more employees get online degrees and use them in the workforce（職場(chǎng)），hiring managers will begin to feel more secure about the quality of education these people have．

19．A new study found evidence of aggressive behavior in children who have four or more servings of soft drinks every day．
Information for the study came from the mothers of 3，000five-year-olds．Researchers asked the women to keep a record of how many servings of soft drinks their children drank over a two-month period．The women were also asked to complete a checklist of their children's behavior．

"For the children who consumed four or more soft drinks per day，we see an association between aggressive behaviors，attention problems and withdrawn behaviors．"
The aggressive behaviors included destroying possessions belonging to others，taking part in fights and physically attacking people．
Shakira Suglia says the researchers identified the link after they considered ocio-demographic factors like the child's age and sex．They also considered other possible influences，such as hether the boys and girls were eating sweets or given fruit drinks on a normal day．In addition，the researchers examined parenting styles and other social conditions that might be taking place in the home．
Doctor Suglia says it is not clear why young children who drink a lot of soda have behavior problems．
"We can't prove that this is a direct cause and effect relationship．Having said that，there are a lot of ingredients in soda，a lot of ingredients that have not been examined in relation to behavior．"
A substance often found in soft drinks is caffeine，which helps to make people feel energized．Doctor Suglia suggests that caffeine could be causing the five year olds to be more aggressive．
The research is part of a larger study called the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study．It follows 5，000poor mothers and their children in 20American cities．
Earlier studies of young adults have found the highest sugar levels in those who carry weapons and show signs of negative social behavior．
