Michael Greenberg is a very popular New Yorker.以及第16空前面的But可知,此處應(yīng)填Know about“知道”。learn from向……學(xué)習(xí);cheer for為……
根據(jù)后文第五段第二句中的many poor New Yorkers know him...
He looks like any other businessman(他與其他商人看上去一樣)以及空前的But(表轉(zhuǎn)折)可知,此處應(yīng)填different(不一樣的)。
聯(lián)系后面的定語從句who look at the sidewalk and ____21____the street可知,look at 及21空都是路人的動作,所以選act。
keep off遠(yuǎn)離……;cross over穿過(道路等)。
其他三個選項(xiàng)的意思是:hold up舉起;阻礙;hang out 閑逛;turn around轉(zhuǎn)身。
其他三個選項(xiàng)的意思是:search for 尋找;store up貯存;put on穿上,均與語境不符。
be sorry for為……遺憾;be satisfied with對……感到滿意;be proud of 以……
根據(jù)后面的Michael’s father always helped the poor...
與make a big difference相對,選small。

China is a land of bicycles. At least it was back in 1992 when I traveled the country.Back then everyone seemed to be riding a bicycle.Millions of them, all black.Cars were rare.Yet since my arrival in Beijing last year,I’ve found the opposite is true. There are millions of cars. However, people still use their bicycles to get around. For many,it’s the easiest and cheapest way to travel today.Bicycles also come in different colors-silver,green,red,blue,yellow,whatever you want.
It’s fun watching people biking. They rush quickly through crossroads, move skillfully through traffic, and ride even on sidewalks(人行道).Bicycles allow people the freedom to move about that cars just can’t provide.
Eager to be part of this aspect of Chinese culture,I decided to buy a bicycle.Great weather accompanied my great buy.I immediately jumped up on my bicycle seat and started home.
My first ride home was orderly (守秩序的).To be safe,I stayed with a“pack”of bikers while cars on the streets came running swiftly out of nowhere at times.I didn’t want to get hit.So I took the ride carefully.
Crossing the streets was the biggest problem. It was a lot like crossing a major highway back in the United States. The streets here were wide,so crossing took time, skill and a little bit of luck.
I finally made it home. The feeling on the bicycle was amazing. The air hitting my face and going through my hair was wonderful.I was sitting on top of the world as I passed by places and people.Biking made me feel alive.
小題1:According to the author, why are bicycles still popular in China today?

(2013·高考福建卷,A)When I was 12,all I wanted was a signet (圖章) ring. They were the “in” thing and it seemed every girl except me had one.On my 13th birthday,my Mum gave me a signet ring with my initials(姓名首字母) carved into it.I was in heaven.
What made it even more special was that it was about the only thing that wasn’t being “replaced”.We’d been burnt out in fires that swept through our area earlier that year and had lost everything—so most of the “new” stuff (東西) we got was really just to replace what we’d lost. But not my ring.My ring was new.
Then, only one month later,I lost it.I took it off before bed and it was missing in the morning.I was sad and searched everywhere for it.But it seemed to have disappeared.Eventually,I gave up and stopped looking for it.And two years later,we sold the house and moved away.
Years passed, and a couple of moves later,I was visiting my parents’ when Mum told me that she had something for me.It wasn’t my birthday, nor was it Easter or Christmas or any other giftgiving occasion.Mum noticed my questioning look.“You’ll recognize this one,”she said, smiling.
Then she handed me a small ring box.I took it from her and opened it to find my beautiful signet ring inside.
The family who had bought our house 13 years earlier had recently decided to do some redecorations, which included replacing the carpets. When they pulled the carpet up in my old bedroom, they found the ring.As it had my initials carved into it,they realized who owned the ring. They’d had it professionally cleaned up by a jeweler before sending it to my mother.

(2013·高考北京卷,B)Two dolphins race around in a big pool in the Ocean Park. The smaller dolphin,Grace, shows off a few of her tricks, turning around and waving hello to the crowd. The most amazing thing about her, however,is that she’s even swimming at all.She doesn’t have a tail.

Grace lost her tail as a baby when she got caught up in a fish trap. When the dolphin arrived at the Ocean Park in December 2005,she was fighting for her life.“Is she going to make it?”Her trainer,Abbey Stone, feared the worst.Grace did make it—but her tail didn’t.She ended up losing her flukes and the lower part of her peduncle.
Over the past six years, she has learned to swim without her tail.Dolphins swim by moving their flukes and peduncle up and down.Grace taught herself to move another way—like a fish! She pushed herself forward through the water by moving her peduncle from side to side.
The movements put harmful pressure on Grace’s backbone. So a company offered to create a manmade tail for her.The tail had to be strong enough to stay on Grace as she swam but soft enough that it wouldn’t hurt her.
The first time Grace wore the artificial tail, she soon shook it off and let it sink to the bottom of the pool. Now,she is still learning to use the tail. Some days she wears it for an hour at a time, others not at all.“The new tail isn’t necessary for her to feel comfortable,”says Stone,“but it helps to keep that range of motion (動作) and build muscles (肌肉).”
Now,the dolphin is about to get an even happier ending. This month,Grace will star in Dolphin Tale,a film that focuses on her rescue and recovery. Her progress has inspired more than just a new movie. Many people travel from near and far to meet her.Seeing Grace swim with her manmade tail gives people so much courage.

Alone in the wilderness. Nothing but jungle. A world of shadow with the rays of light falling like blonde hair from the crowns of the giant trees. Jungle in the midday sun. Everything motionless. Not a sound from sky or earth. Complete silence. Only some coconuts falling, at long intervals, very far away. The world reduced to the soft touch of cool grass along my naked back, and a sweet smell of rich soil and vegetation. Stretched out with closed eyes beside my heavy burden of fruit and firewood, I enjoyed the feeling of fresh blood streaming through every part of my body and fresh jungle air filling every corner of my lungs.
Resting motionless, I could see the sun through my closed eyelids, alone in the sky, as lonely as I, and as motionless and silent as everything else. The earth had surely stopped turning and somewhere on this planet there was supposed to be roaring traffic in busy streets. What a crazy, unbelievable thought!
Another coconut fell, to make the world come to a complete standstill. I had to roll over onto my stomach to feel that at least I could move and make noises. Then I found company. A little brown ant was struggling to find its way with a bit of dry straw through the jungle of leaves and grass below my nose. I wondered if I could give the little fellow a lift with its burden, but it showed not the slightest sign of tiredness and struggled on with all six legs, head first or head last, waving its feelers energetically as if the trip had just started. Who ever saw a tired ant? Tiredness, disagreeable tiredness, is restricted to hunted animals, slaves and modern man. It is as great an effort for an office clerk to walk five blocks with a loaded brief-case as it is for a jungle-dweller to cross a valley with a goat on his back. It is as hard to get up and climb or run when you have been seated for years as it is to get up and walk when you have been in bed for months. The body is strange. Spare it, and you get really tired for almost nothing; use it, and almost nothing makes you really tired.
I rose to my feet. I had heard a horse neighing down in the valley. Above me, on the open highland plains, there were wild horses. But down in the valley there was never a horse unless there was a man on it. Somebody was making his way up the valley and my wife was alone.
小題1:What’s the right order of the following events?
① I heard a horse neighing down in the valley.
② I went to the jungle.
③ I found an ant carrying a bit of dry straw.
④ I lay on the ground to have a break.
⑤ I picked fruits and chopped firewood.
A.②③⑤①④B.⑤③②④①C.②⑤④③①D.⑤④③②①
小題2:How does the author feel about the ant?
A.He admired its attitude toward work.
B.He was amazed at its tireless efforts.
C.He showed sympathy for the little ant.
D.He was content to have it as a companion.
小題3:It can be inferred from the last paragraph that the author would probably          .
A.work harder than beforeB.talk to the man on the horse
C.make his way homeD.stay in the valley
小題4:We can learn from the passage that the author          .
A.enjoyed being alone
B.experienced a world of quietness
C.missed his busy life in the city
D.had an unforgettable adventure

Three men were travelling across the desert when their car broke down. There were no other traffics, so their only hope was to walk.
Before they set off, they looked around in the car for useful things to take with them. One of the men took a bottle of whisky. Another took an umbrella. The third unscrewed a door from the car and carried that.
After they had been walking for almost a day, they came across a camel caravan travelling towards them.
“Let’s try to join the caravan,” one of the men said. “It’s going the wrong way but we’ll be safer than if we keep on alone across the desert.”
The other s agreed, so they asked the leader of the caravan for permission to join it.
“You can join the caravan only if you answer three questions,” he said. He pointed to the first man’s bottle. “What is that and why are you carrying it?” he asked.
“It’s a bottle of whisky. I decided to carry it with me so that if I feel miserable and want to give up, I can get drunk, cheer myself up and then keep on walking.”
“Very sensible,” the leader of the caravan said. Then he pointed to the next man and his umbrella.
“It hasn’t rained in the desert for many years,” he said. “Why are you carrying an umbrella?”
“I don’t want to get heat exhaustion,” he replied. “The umbrella will give me shade from the sun.”
“Very sensible,” the leader of the caravan said. He pointed to the third man and his car door. “And why are you carrying a car door?” he asked him.
“I thought that if I got too hot I could open the window and let some air in,” he explained.
